POSITION SUMMARY:

Develop and maintain transportation, warehousing, and distribution procedures to maximize delivery efficiency and flow of finished goods and raw materials to the Verona manufacturing facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage the Verona plant warehouses and inventory.
  • Responsible for the on-time shipment of outbound domestic orders that provides appropriate customer service with competitive rates.
  • Responsible, under the direction of International Logistics Department, for on-time loading of international shipments.
  • Responsible for the receiving of raw materials for the Verona production facility with the subsequent Quality functions and distribution to Production locations.
  • Responsible for the consolidation of finished goods to the appropriate plant warehouse location for future shipment to customers.
  • Maintain and manage internal yard truck and trailers.
  • Understand and use transportation concepts, practices and procedures that include, but not limited to: Contract carrier(s), Expedited shipments, Motor freight classifications, and Carrier tariffs and discounts.
  • Effectively communicate with production facilities to complete daily/future shipping needs.
  • Use experience to minimize freight damage; file damaged freight claims for Verona facility within 72 hours of notification.
  • Represent Verona in communications with 3PL account executives.
  • Manager, supervise, and train warehouse personnel in accordance to job functions and Balchem needs.
  • Maintain Balchem Verona Warehouses and their operations in accordance to Balchem Quality Management System, i.e., GMP, ISO, etc.
  • Utilizing IT tools (D365), systems and processes, maintain 100% accuracy of all inventoried items at any given time. This includes development and maintaining D365 inventory locations to drive inventory accuracy and efficient movement of material.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records on each employee.
  • Update and create new SOP & WI and approve supervisor and/or lead's revisions or created instructions.
  • Direct the Cycle Counting program for all of Verona's warehouses in cooperation with Production Managers.
  • Ensure that all warehouses are maintained to meet all cGMP, SQF, and Fami-QS standards.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree in Materials Management, Logistics or equivalent preferred, plus 1 to 5 years of experience in transportation and warehousing, to include work with motor freight carriers.
  • Proficient with MS Office Applications, navigating internet explorer and general computer knowledge for shipping needs.
  • Capability to become forklift certified.
  • Ability to understand and utilize ERP system (D365).
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of motor freight classifications.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Requires walking/standing, sitting for periodic periods throughout the day in a warehouse with no HVAC; reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to handle materials during the workday.
  • Manufacturing/warehouse environment with exposure to wet and dry raw materials and finished product powder and liquid, bulk materials and cleaning chemicals.
  • Some climbing, stooping and lifting; frequent moving of up to 125 pounds required; move pallets weighing approximately 2,000 pounds with the use of a pallet jack.
