As a member of the Upstream Process Engineering team supporting Amgen Rhode Island (ARI) operations, responsibilities include:
  • Characterization of process optimization strategies and/or solving of operational issues
  • Apply engineering principles to recommendation, design, and implementation of system modifications
  • Ensure optimal and cost-effective performance and reliability for process systems
  • Develop, organize, analyze, and present results for operational issues and engineering projects of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Work closely with multiple disciplines, including manufacturing, utility operations, maintenance, quality assurance, and validation to implement operational improvements.
  • Communicate proactively with supervisor and support staff, highlighting issues and proposing solutions.
  • Lead, work in, and embrace a team-based culture.
  • Representing F&E on Capital projects to ensure Engineering scope is delivered.
  • Provide on call support coverage on weekends, on a rotating basis.


Basic Qualifications:

Master's degree

OR

Bachelor's degree and 2 years of Engineering experience

OR

Associate's degree and 6 years of Engineering experience

Or

High school diploma / GED and 8 years of Engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 2+ years 'experience with upstream unit operations including Mammalian Cell Culture, Harvest and Media preparation
  • Familiarity designing and operating purification equipment used in MAB manufacturing
  • Direct experience with regulated environments (i.e. GMP, OSHA, EPA)
  • Direct experience with validation and change control methodology
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence multi-functional teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Energetic and technically-minded individual.
