About The Role

The Technical Project Manager (Design to Order) is a key member of the GILLIG team, the industries leading transit bus manufacturer. Using leadership and facilitation expertise, the Technical Project Manager (Design to Order) is responsible for managing the requirements and interactions between the Sales and Engineering departments throughout the bus order process. He/she is expected to operate with a minimal amount of supervision under direction from the S & OP Program Manager. The overall objective is to streamline order management processes, improve communication, and remove roadblocks to ensure Sales receives required services from Engineering, and Engineering receives high quality customer requirements from Sales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for resource planning, forecasting, and executing all customer REIs on a subset of orders
  • Responsible for monitoring progress and tracking completion of REIs for the given orders.
  • Responsible for ensuring procurement (the customer) receives required services from Engineering
  • Responsible for root cause identification of all issues and advise management on process improvement opportunities
  • Responsible for providing engineering support to sales during the customer bidding process such as:
  • Perform research related to RFP language, SAE standards, and design compliance
  • Ensure that the meeting notes and REIs written have the necessary amount of detail for the BOM and Engineering teams
  • Responsible for streamlining processes, improving communications, and removing roadblocks to ensure Sales (the customer) receives required services from Engineering
  • Responsible for reactively prioritizing team's workload; Understanding causes of delay; suggesting initiatives to fix them
  • Responsible for contributing input as required to help Supervisors and above complete their teams formal feedback

About You

  • BS or BSE required; MBA preferred
  • 2 years + in a robust Program Management role required; additional 3 years + in an Engineering role preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple programs to ensure timelines and deliverables are met is required
  • Experience in Six Sigma, LEAN principles, and other continuous improvement methodologies are highly desired
  • Background in Automotive, Aerospace, or Construction/Commercial Equipment preferred.
  • Strong financial acumen to understand stranded cost impacts.
  • Experienced professional with strong communication skills (written and verbal) who is able to interact with senior management.
  • Able to work effectively at all levels in an organization.
  • Strong analytic and decision-making abilities. Ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office & Project
