This Technical Leader will join EPRI’s growing sustainability research team to contribute to the development of the Institute’s new Sustainability Assessment line of work. This effort is designed to directly apply over a decade of EPRI research to help electric power companies document and benchmark potential sustainability risks and opportunities that can impact their long-term success. 

This position will help lead:

  • The continued build out of EPRI’s Sustainability Assessments suite of work to support individual company projects

  • Evaluation and technical analysis associated with electric power companies’ sustainability programs and business processes, anticipating requirements, uncovering areas for improvement, and developing and implementing potential next steps

  • Development of materials for and execution of meetings to update on project status, analysis, and findings

  • Project engagement activities including facilitation of workshops, education sessions, and stakeholder interviews; and

  • Gathering critical information from literature review activities, interviews, and various stakeholders to produce useful reports

The following is also preferred of interested candidates:

  • A strong understanding of sustainability and how electric power companies strategically address this topic

  • Experience working in or with electric power or energy companies;

  • Experience in supporting research activities and/or relative work experience applicable to executing sustainability strategies and programming

  • Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills (including strong Excel skills), creatively approaching problem solving grounded in expertise, experience, and EPRI research;

  • Ability to form and maintain productive working relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, building coalitions of cross-EPRI experts to support project execution;

  • Familiarity with sustainability reporting organizations with a knowledge of sustainability metrics

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with EPRI membership at all levels (including executive leadership), as well as write clearly, succinctly, and in a manner that appeals to a wide audience

  • Ability to exercise judgment, diligence, and attention to detail and demonstrates an aptitude for carrying out technical assignments;

  • Curiosity and attention-to-detail balanced by focus on task-oriented goal completion

  • Experience working on multiple projects concurrently

  • A positive attitude, always committed to success and being a part of a collaborative team of business and technical professionals



  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field or equivalent experience required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • 5 -7 or more years of research and development project and promotional experience, including development of advanced concepts for internal research or equivalent experience

  • Shows technical expertise and assumes responsibility for highly specialized technical objectives using creative imaginative solutions

  • Experience in performing and/or managing research activities

  • Incumbents must be able to exercise judgment, diligence, and attention to detail and demonstrate an aptitude for carrying out responsible technical assignments

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Manages projects and may work in conjunction with a technical specialist.

  • Developing technical depth in 1-2 areas

  • Understand how work fits across EPRI programs

  • Typically individual contributor, may begin handling supervisory activities for lower level positions
