Amgen is searching for a Strategy Senior Manager to be based out of our Thousand Oaks, CA global headquarters and who will report to the Executive Director of Strategy.

The Strategy Senior Manager will have three main responsibilities: i) Lead all or part of a cross-functional, strategic projects (e.g., working closely with Amgen Ventures Department, evaluation of an M&A opportunity, new business proposals) sponsored by Amgen's leadership, as a project manager, ii) Drive activities / work streams on strategic planning/ management and annual strategy review processes, and iii) as needed, take on independent analyses of industry trends and developments.

Key Responsibilities of the Strategy Senior Manager:
  • Provides analysis of critical strategic problems facing the company over the medium and long-term time horizons
  • Generates multi-faceted perspectives and looks at potential for disruption all along the healthcare value chain
  • Prepares and presents both presentations and memos to senior management
  • Provides support on special projects with discretion
  • Interfaces with stakeholders and sponsors on project progress, issues, and plans for resolution
  • Aligns and prioritizes workload in accordance with business strategy and objectives


Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree & 2 years of Strategy and/or Business Development and/or Analytical experience

OR

Master's degree & 4 years of Strategy and/or Business Development and/or Analytical experience

OR

Bachelor's degree & 6 years of Strategy and/or Business Development and/or Analytical experience

OR

Associate's degree & 10 years of Strategy and/or Business Development and/or Analytical experience

OR

High school diploma / GED & 12 years of Strategy and/or Business Development and/or Analytical experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Candidates with PhD / Master's degree in life sciences, medical, preferred with a combination with MBA / Finance desirable
  • 3+ years' experience in biotechnology / pharmaceutical industry and / or top tier Management Consulting and / or Investment Banking firms
  • Strong PowerPoint expertise
  • Excellent conceptual problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to bring structure to vaguely defined problems, pragmatically scope problem solving approach, and manage execution
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytic skills, including financial analysis
  • Robust knowledge of biopharma industry (i.e., science / medicine, R&D-manufacturing-commercial processes, interplay among various stakeholders in the industry, awareness of trends and recent developments) and ability to research / learn/ synthesize findings rapidly on new topics
  • Excellent cross-functional communication skills and a decisive yet affiliative leadership / influencing style to drive results while maintaining relationships
  • Comfort with Senior Executives, including ability to communicate effectively
  • Proven experience as a member of a high performing team
