Amgen is seeking a Senior Manager, Information Systems (IS) to join our Research & Medical Informatics (R&MI) organization at our capability center in Tampa, Florida to develop and implement strategies, services, and capabilities to support Amgen's Global Medical business function. This role will be part of the larger Research & Medical Informatics organization with initial focus on supporting the Global Medical business function.

The Senior Manager, IS will be responsible for a team of IS professionals and will lead the management and delivery of Global Medical technology services and solutions. This position will report to the Director, Information Systems for Medical organization.

The Global Medical IS team supports platforms, technologies and applications for opinion leader relationship management, scientific exchange, publications and evidence generation globally. Our success in R&MI is driven by our dedication to our patients, to our business clients, and to using technologies that deliver critical business value.

Responsibilities:
  • Partner with leadership in the Global Medical organization to define, develop, and implement technology solutions aligned with the organization's goals and objectives, with a focus on increasing the effectiveness of the organization.
  • Develop and implement multi-year strategic service and technology roadmaps and lead the IS team in executing on the roadmaps.
  • Lead complex projects with a combination of internal resources, and multiple vendors and partners.
  • Develop and implement plans to sustain and evolve IS services, in alignment with business stakeholder goals and objectives.
  • Partner with business stakeholders, internal teams, vendors, and other partners to manage the technology portfolio and service level agreements, provide service KPIs, and ensure ongoing application stability.
  • Establish and maintain successful relationships with internal IS teams, strategic external partners, industry bodies, technology analyst in order to learn, influence, and attract the best talent.
  • Manage, develop, and mentor a high performance IS team.


Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Information Systems experience

OR

Master's degree and 6 years of Information Systems experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 8 years of Information Systems experience

OR

Associate's degree and 10 years of Information Systems experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Information Systems experience

AND

2 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10+ years working experience, of which 8+ years has been in the life sciences industry, leading teams, managing complex IS projects, and driving cross-functional technology introduction and innovation.
  • Excellent influencing skills and demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with business partners and stakeholders, IS teams, and external service providers.
  • Strong organizational planning and financial management skills.
  • Experience with the following technologies and solutions: Salesforce.com, Veeva CRM and Vault, AWS stack, Databricks or Cloudera, Tableau
  • Experience developing and managing systems related to medical publications management, customer service and call center, and medical information management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills and ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and management.
  • Experience with global computer system validation and regulatory requirements (e.g., 21 CFR Part 11); understanding of health care compliance requirements and principles.
  • Experience with or working knowledge of LEAN/AGILE software development methodologies and best-practices, including but not limited to version control (Git, TFS, Subversion, etc.), CI/CD (Jenkins, Maven, Gradle, etc.), automated unit testing, DevOps.
  • Ability to lead and development a team of high performing IS professionals.
