Amgen Research, Thousand Oaks is seeking a highly motivated Senior Associate Scientist to contribute to the discovery and validation of novel platforms and modalities to impact challenging targets with the goal of supporting the development of Amgen's next generation of innovative therapeutics.

Position Responsibilities

Excel as an independent laboratory scientist within a dynamic research team, with an opportunity to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams within Amgen's Discovery Research organization

Make impactful scientific, laboratory-based contributions to the group goals, present results in both internal and external forums, and participate in the writing of manuscripts for publication

Independently design experimental strategy, plan and perform laboratory experiments, analyze and interpret data, and communicate results in team meetings

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree
OR
Master's degree and 3 years of scientific experience
OR
Bachelor's degree and 5 years of scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications

PhD and post-doctoral training in cell biology, biochemistry or a related field with a background in cancer biology and pathways

A strong skillset with standard cell and molecular biology experimental design and techniques as well as CRISPR, shRNA or lentiviral technology

Specific expertise and a record of publication in the biology and biochemistry of the ubiquitin-proteasome system with a focus on the enzymology of ubiquitin ligases

Research experience with biochemical, biophysical, molecular and cellular techniques, including enzyme and cell assay development, characterization of protein modification and turnover, and mechanistic studies of protein ubiquitination

Track record of independent critical thinking and scientific achievement, supported by a strong publication record and/or significant contributions to a drug discovery program

Flexibility to work in teams to achieve changing project goals and meet timelines
