The Contract Development & Foundation team, a part of the Strategic Pricing and Contracting team, supports Amgen by drafting and managing discount and rebate contracts to assist Amgen in its mission to serve patients by enabling access to Amgen products. We are looking for an internal business professional to translate complex discount strategies and structures into language in legal documents.

The Specialist position operates within a business critical, fast-paced environment. Will be primarily responsible for contract document creation and contract management of key Provider and/or Payor customer contracts from request to execution, managing contract data for owned accounts in our contract lifecycle management (CLM) database, and collaborating with the team ensure key controls in the contracting process are met.

Responsibilities include:
  • Drafting and editing agreements, amendments, notice letters and other contract documents;
  • Crafting document language that accurately describes new programs, incentives and objectives;
  • Communicating with other functional components of the department on the operation and implementation of business unit strategies; participating in and supporting meetings to plan, provide feedback and anticipate the needs of the business unit;
  • Participation in the document management process, as well as ongoing interaction with several cross-functional groups, including Legal, Government Programs, Pricing and Contract Operations.;
  • Project managing planned and ad-hoc projects within Strategic Pricing and Contracting and U.S. Value & Access;
  • Researching and producing contract documents in support of internal and external audits and litigation.
  • Position also involves: managing contract data in our CLM system, reporting activities and metrics to supervising director, managing customer document files, folders and templates, conducting document review meetings, communicating customer and contract document status and history to partners and certifying that key process controls have been met.


Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree

OR

Master's degree and 2 years of commercial contracting, legal, finance and/or analytics experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 4 years of commercial contracting, legal, finance and/or analytics experience

OR

Associate's degree and 10 years of commercial contracting, legal, finance and/or analytics experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of commercial contracting, legal, finance and/or analytics experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Document drafting experience in a fast-paced environment, e.g. consulting firms, biotech, tech companies, etc.
  • Very strong technical aptitude, computer & M/S Office skills; strong administrative skills
  • Completes projects and makes decisions with minimal direction. Strong ability to develop prioritization and completion timeframes for multiple assignments contract document requests.
  • High attention to detail/reporting accuracy
  • Project a positive, 'can do' attitude and eagerly contribute to all initiatives as needed and requested
  • Outstanding attention to detail and organization skills, effective decision making skills, focus on process improvements, and ability to manage a large number of complex projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to be nimble, take initiative, problem-solve, work independently and exercise appropriate business judgment.
  • Great teammate; interaction and strong communication skills with cross-functional teams is critical.
