(Currently working remote but will return to office - must be willing to relocate or currently live in the Chicagoland area)

General Overview

The role of the Solution Architect is to enable business and IT leaders to make investment decisions that balance and prioritize current operational demands, disruptions, and opportunities with the longer-term strategic vision of the organization. Furthermore the Solution architect provides technology guidance, road maps, principles, standards, and best practices.


You Will Have

  • Four-year college diploma or university degree in computer systems design or computer science, and/or 7 years equivalent work experience.

  • 2+ years of experience with cloud and/or SaaS operations

  • 2+ years experience working in an architect capacity.

  • 2+ years experience defining and implementing architecture strategies.

  • Architecture Certification preferred

  • Extensive experience with architecture best practices and goals

  • Solid knowledge of operating in cloud-based environments, especially Azure & Oracle cloud

  • Strong technical knowledge application development design principles and standards

  • Proven experience in overseeing the implementation and support processes required for software solutions.

  • Expertise in software process automation

  • Strong knowledge of system and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies.

  • Good understanding of Application Security and Security best practice

  • Good understanding of DevOps and experience building a CI/CD pipeline for successfully launches

  • Good project management skills and/or substantial exposure to project-based work structures.

  • Good at debugging and help resolving complex production issue.

  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.

You Will Be Responsible For

Strategy & Planning

  • Provides overall direction, guidance, and definition of Web architecture to effectively support the corporate business strategy.

  • Supports all architectural disciplines and champions architectural initiatives.

  • Reviews existing business processes and establishes metrics to improve business processes, as well as support of all architectural disciplines under their direction.

  • Participates in the Architecture Review board and ensures that the solutions are compliant with target-state architecture models.

  • Aligns architecture strategy with business goals.

  • Defines, explains, and advocates technology strategy.

  • Develops and communicates architectural policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures.

  • Manages exceptions to architectural standards.

  • Reviews and/or analyzes and develops architectural requirements as needed for the organization.

  • Directs the research and evaluation of emerging technology, industry, and market trends

Acquisition & Deployment

  • Ensures the conceptual completeness of the technical solutions.

  • Leads/participates in developing technology plans.

  • Provides strategic consultation to business and IT leaders.

  • Advises on options, risks, costs versus benefits, system impacts, and technology priorities.

Operational Management

  • Consults with project teams to fit projects to enterprise architecture.

  • Develops a communication plan for architecture.

  • Ensures recommendations are based on business relevance, appropriate timing, and deployment.

  • Approves the tools and components used.

  • Collaborates with project management and IT leaders to ensure progress towards architectural alignment with project goals and requirements.


Other duties as Assigned

  • Other duties may include, but are not limited to, working with Rotarys customers on inquiries, leading project meetings, working on special projects, and testing system updates.
