The Software Engineer role will be responsible for implementing solutions to support Amgen's enterprise analytics strategy. This position will be part of the Analytics and Knowledge Management group and will be based at Thousand Oaks, CA. The successful candidate will have experience in open source web application development technologies and public cloud development experience using AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure.

Responsibilities:
  • Requirements analysis, design, development, testing and releases for various enterprise applications.
  • Responsible for producing product feature design documentation and specifications.
  • Research, recommend and communicate emerging technologies to solve product problems.
  • Troubleshoot applications and quickly solve production issues.
  • Acquire the appropriate business knowledge needed to deliver on product goals & requirements.
  • Partner with IS and business stakeholders to ensure that the product is an appropriate fit for the end users.


Basic Qualifications

Master's degree in Information Systems or related field

OR

Bachelor's degree and 2 years of Information Systems experience

OR

Associates degree and 6 years of Information Systems experience

OR

High School Diploma / GED and 8 years of Information Systems experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • BS or MS in computer science
  • 2+ years of current hands on experience in Java programming
  • Experience using Spring Boot and implementing security using Spring Security and Kerberos
  • Hands on experience using React.JS, JavaScript, and GraphQL
  • Hands on Python programming experience
  • Experience building and using JSON-based RESTful APIs
  • Experience using Linux/Unix
  • Previous experience with AWS or other cloud-based technologies like Google Cloud, Azure is a plus
  • Good understanding of software development, DevOps, unit test, automated testing, GitLab, continuous integration (Jenkins), and continuous deployment (Docker and Kubernetes)
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
