Overview

The SIOP Lead performs in a leadership role to facilitate the Sales, Inventory, Operation Planning (SIOP) process as part of a multisite, multifunction regional approach while also having demand planning responsibilities for specific product groups in the region. The focus is to balance demand and supply choices in the Portfolio, Demand and Supply Reviews by working with other functions such as marketing, product development, finance, and operations to reconcile top-down financial plans with the bottom-up operational plans. The SIOP Lead is also responsible for preparing and facilitating the Regional Executive SIOP meeting by creating and analyzing multiple scenarios for planning reconciliation to meet the regions P&L objectives.

The SIOP Lead is responsible for the successful application of the SIOP process each monthly cycle in the region including: ensuring the SIOP meetings take place, are effectively facilitated, participants are kept on track and moving toward resolution of demand and supply plans, and the review is concisely summarized to prepare for the following cycle.

This role is focused on achieving the SIOP process objectives via successful execution, ensuring it escalates risks, shares assumptions, focuses on forward looking planning horizons, is decision based and action oriented.



Responsibilities

  • Statistical modeling & analytics completed in SAP IBP for up to 25% of regional SKUs.
  • Assumption based planning to evaluate buying patterns of key customers and predict how the company should react to product phase in, phase out, warranty, availability, demand shifts, promotions, events and competitive products.
  • Facilitate demand reviews to generate a consensus demand plan with cross functional team members
  • Determine and communicate forecast range, with consensus demand, potential upside opportunity and downside risk, to the supply planners.
  • Consolidate inputs from markets, if needed, and analyze demand changes and compare vs. financial target.
  • Ensure that new product development and discontinuation plans have been properly communicated and are included as an input to the demand planning process.
  • Ensure that the supply review process is followed and is provided as input to the SIOP step of the process. Consolidate input of supply if needed.
  • Facilitate a pre-SIOP meeting where demand and supply are compared and issues and scenarios are prepared. Align within the multi-functional teams on decisions that will be presented in the SIOP meeting, and who will present.
  • Maintain overall understanding of global demand and how it affects regional SIOP plans.
  • Prepare and execute regional SIOP meeting, reconciling supply to demand, aligning with the financial plans and understanding the financial implications of different scenarios. This includes conducting or facilitating what-if analysis, including risks & upsides, for alternate scenario planning.
  • Ensure that all information is presented, all stakeholders are engaged, decisions are made, and execution plans articulated with owners and completion dates
  • Ensure that decisions and actions from the meeting are communicated to each function/department/team and if necessary ensure that execution is taking place.
  • Work with VPGM & Global SIOP Manager on required escalation items to the Global SIOP Executive Review
  • Ensure that the SIOP process is sustained to the intended level of maturity by way of annual SIOP Self-Assessment for the region.
  • On-board newcomers from different functions on the process and engage them on the key expectations. Support in hiring and training demand and supply planners.
  • Continuously seek feedback from stakeholders on the process, meeting effectiveness, metrics and subsequent activities to identify issues to resolve.
  • Report metrics back to SIOP process owner, executives and the team to identify progress, root causes for correction or process improvement.
  • Document current process and work with Global SIOP Manager on continuous improvement, challenges with the process and options to improve the process.
  • Support the SAP IBP BPO in implementation of improvements. Share and reapply best practices with other business units/geographies beyond their span of control.

Special knowledge, skills and abilities preferred:

Level I:

  • Proficient ability in using SAP IBP.
  • Strong skills as a meeting facilitator with the ability to keep a meeting on track while engaging all stakeholders and driving to a set of decisions that can be executed in the business.
  • Adept at constructing presentations for the SIOP team to communicate process, concepts, data, scenarios and other critical information to facilitate teamwork and decision making.
  • Supply chain/operations certification a plus, such as APICS, CPIM or lean.

Level II:

  • Experienced in, and skilled at, finding and understanding data and data patterns to construct conclusions and insights that aid in decision making processes. Has demonstrated successful scenario planning and group decisions that led to measurable medium-to-long term planning success stories.
  • Can construct scenarios based on various sources of data to provide options to SIOP team.
  • Knows the critical steps and processes involved in managing projects from inception to completion. Can track progress and move teams to complete goals.
  • Has insight and experience into company systems, particularly as they relate to the demand/supply planning processes. Understands how data is constructed within the systems and can source the information as well as input data for downstream use.

Education and experience required:

  • Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain / Logistics / Business or Related Field
  • This position is available at two different career levels based upon experience, education, etc.:
    • Level one: 4+ years of demand planning, supply planning, or planning processes in sales, marketing operations, finance and manufacturing.
    • Level two: 6+ years of experience of planning processes in sales, marketing operations, finance and manufacturing which includes 2+ years of specific experience in Sales Inventory Operations Planning coordination.
