To seize opportunity to help people toward stability in the most effective way by welcoming them and helping them with the next best step in seeking positive change. The Service Coordinator skillfully connects visitors and inquiries (walk-in, phone, email and referral) to the services and resources they need both internally and externally. The Service Coordinator also handles intake and appointment processes for program participants, and they initiate appropriate processes for internal referral (to Family Services, Immigration Services), as well as external referrals.

Essential Duties

  • Provide welcoming and professional customer service to families, community members, and collaborating organizations.
  • Serve as a check-in point at Hanifen Employment Center desk for all services related to Income & Relief Services.
  • Work with the Director of Income & Relief Services to promote the safety and security of families and other visitors through the active monitoring of potential threats, and development and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Frontline communication with the public, skillfully determining the right next step for a wide range of situations and initiating the correct process for that next step.
  • Determine how we can best serve the visitor and facilitate the connection.
  • Perform intake for program participation as appropriate in support of program staff and in support of consistency and effective process and data collection.
  • Responsible for collecting, managing, and reporting on data related to client interaction.
  • Enter participants into the HMIS system when appropriate and maintain certain records as deemed appropriate by the Director of Income & Relief Services and VP of Adult & Immigrant Services.
  • Enter information about what the person is visiting for into HMIS, even with other providers.
  • Schedule clients for appointments with case managers.
  • Coordinate referrals to outside resources and supports with consideration for language needs.
  • Distribute and communicate information about community resources as needed.
  • Coordinate client intake information and feedback surveys.
  • Be up-to-date on all services and happenings on-site at the Marian House campus to assist visitors with services navigation.
  • Be up-to-date on all services in other areas of Catholic Charities and in the community at large for human services.
  • Train and supervise on-site volunteers.
  • Monitor and register users of the computer lab in support of case managers and mission.
  • Coordinate, execute, and develop reporting process for special projects/functions/events.
  • Responsible for the proper functioning and maintenance of front desk equipment, and the security of confidential information.

  • Strong computer skills including use of Microsoft Office products and database management systems.
  • Process oriented, understanding the need for consistency and careful collection and communication of details.
  • Sensitivity to the cultural and socioeconomic diversity background of clients served.
  • Ability to be firm and confident in order to make sure that visitors are helped in the way that is most appropriate for their situation.
  • Self-directed individual, but strong team player with flexibility and adaptability.

  • Fully bilingual Spanish/English required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or comparable work experience.
  • Customer Service experience preferred.
  • Work with diverse populations to include socio-economic diversity a plus.
  • Demonstrated self-starter and ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Understanding of and compliance to confidentiality related to information and documents.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply culturally appropriate skills in interactions with clients, co-workers, volunteers, partner agencies, and other community members.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), problem solving, listening, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to form and maintain positive work relationships.
  • Occasional evenings and weekends are required to accommodate meetings and special events.
  • Ability and willingness to work within the established structure of Catholic Charities.

Position Classification


Full Time: 40 hours per week

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm


$31,758 - $34,373 DOE

Grant funded through 2023


FT Eligible Package: Medical Insurance, Dental Insurance, Vision Insurance, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off
