Service and Engagement Team Overview

The Rotary Service and Engagement team is part of the Programs and Grants portfolio within Programs and Member Services. The team oversees many of the programs and activities that help Rotary members and participants connect, partner, and serve, including:

  • Community, International, and Vocational Service

Position Overview

This position is a key member of the Service and Engagement team, responsible primarily for supporting program leaders and Rotary members with their networking and service goals, providing high-touch support for service and networking programs and promoting the value they bring to members and the community, creating and disseminating training resources, and improving processes to strengthen support and advance program goals. Your contribution will serve to support Rotary International's mission and strategic objectives by helping focus programs and offerings, enhancing participant engaging, and advancing Rotarys ability to be innovative and flexible.


You Will Have

  • Bachelor's degree with two years or more of experience working in a program officer role, preferably with background in a nonprofit or academic setting.

  • Prior experience working with volunteers, international stakeholders, leading multiple concurrent projects and priorities.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; high attention to detail and commitment to accuracy; firm commitment to provide excellent customer service to internal/external contacts.

  • Effective problem-solving abilities.

  • Collaborative and creative approaches to developing solutions with a positive attitude

  • Strong critical thinking and organizational skills

  • Multicultural experience and proficiency in a second language preferred; familiarity with the international and community development fields helpful.

You Will Be Responsible For

Program Oversight

  • You will support the Rotary Fellowship program, serving as the programmatic subject matter expert and directly supporting program leaders and participants with their networking and service goals.

  • Help evaluate the Rotary Fellowship program and suggest policy amendments and programmatic changes to improve support for and engagement in Rotary Fellowships.

  • Collect, curate, and promote program success stories, in partnership with the Communications Sr. Specialist and colleagues across the organization.

  • Partner with colleagues across Meetings and Events and Learning and Development to facilitate Rotary Fellowships presence at and participation in the Rotary Convention and other Rotary-organized events.

  • Develop and maintain resources to support program leaders, participants, and prospective participants.

  • Respond to inquiries from program leaders, participants, and prospective members.

  • Partner with the Sr. Specialist, Service and Networking Programs to offer programmatic support for the Rotary Community Corps program, including or not limited to responding to inquiries from program leaders and prospective sponsoring clubs, help develop resources to support and advance the programs goals, assist with program evaluation and analysis.

  • You will also help improve processes and technology systems to better support program leaders, participants, and Rotary members interested in joining or starting a Rotary Fellowship. You will help oversee processes, advocate for technology and technical resources to better support members and participants through the Service and Engagement portfolio, process improvement, lead change management, and regularly evaluate programs and processes.


Communication, Training and Resource Creation

  • You will partner with team members to create resources to support program leaders and participants. You will partner with fellow team members and colleagues to distribute training curriculum, resources, and coursework to the appropriate target audiences.

Evaluation and Analysis

  • You will assist with the evaluation of the Rotary Fellowship program and resources and will identify opportunities for processes improvement. You will use your analysis to advocate for technical resources and advise on technical solutions for business improvement.


Customer Support

  • This role is responsible for supporting Rotary members in leadership roles at the international, club, and district levels.


Other duties as assigned

  • Other duties may include, but are not limited to, working with Rotarys customers on inquiries, leading department meetings, working on special projects, convening focus groups, and testing system updates.
