JFF's west coast office in California focuses on a wide array of strategies representative of the organization's full range of expertise. We work as a team with other JFF staff to pursue a holistic approach that aims to have a positive impact in the nation's most populous state. California-based staff also typically have opportunities to work on JFF projects nationally.

About the position:
JFF is seeking a California-based Senior Program Manager in our west coast office. The Senior Program Manager is part of a team consisting of a Vice President, Directors, Associate Directors, senior program managers, program managers, and other JFF staff. They will participate in the implementation of a variety of initiatives, including those that support community college and K12 educators, system leaders, cross-sector networks comprising leaders from education, workforce development systems, non-profit organizations, and business and industry. These efforts are part of a larger JFF body of work focused on systems changes that ensure equity in economic advancement, influencing employer practice, and preparing people for the future of work.

What you'll do:
The principal duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
• Manage consultation, writing, planning of project deliverables to partners and funders.
• Organize and facilitate small and large group meetings, trainings, and/or strategic planning sessions.
• Develop and manage projects from original concept through final implementation.
• Adjust and adapt readily to multiple demands, constituencies, and handle a diversity of projects simultaneously.
• Coordinate and oversee teams and programs to meet operating goals.
• Develop partnerships across the organization in order to maximize impact and outcomes of strategic goals and objectives.
• Design and conduct research as appropriate to projects or initiatives.
• Participate in strategic planning, staffing decisions, and assume budgetary responsibilities.
• Manage, and oversee the budgets, grants, and fundraising reporting for projects.
• Review proposals prior to submission to ensure timeliness, compliance, and budget adherence.
• Work with potential funders and colleagues to build-out and advance the work of JFF.
• Contribute to the design and development of proposals and partnerships for new bodies of work.
• Interface with all areas affected by the project including, funders, partners and consultants.
• Provide guidance to peers regarding appropriate match of project concepts with the call for proposals and federal funding specifications.

Who you are:
• Belief in JFF's core values and you can apply those values to all areas of your work
• Minimum of 5-7 years experience in a related field
• Previous professional experience working in K-12, college and career readiness or community college context
• Demonstrated evidence of success in working directly with senior-level executives and decision-makers; and managing disparate priorities among several constituencies
• Experience with strategic planning and budget planning, implementation and management
• Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing in-person and online peer-learning meetings
• Demonstrated experience in managing, analyzing, and using data to frame discussions and guide decision making
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to synthesize and communicate complex issues to a variety of audiences
• Demonstrated entrepreneurial and learning mindset and ability to take initiative to identify potential future problems and work with manager and team to design solutions.
• Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing in-person and virtual technical assistance to the field, as well as, in-person and virtual peer learning meetings
• Ability to develop and maintain strong client relations
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 30%
