This position, located at Infiltrator's central manufacturing campus in Kentucky, will be integral in managing the implementation of current and future capital projects. The Infiltrator Kentucky campus encompasses 8 facilities on 200 acres of property and contains some of the largest plastics processing equipment in the world. This position will support the growth at Infiltrator's central campus and satellite facilities as required.



Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW:

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for autonomously leading and executing capital and continuous improvement projects throughout the operation with primary focus in the multi-facility Winchester, Kentucky operation. This position will report to the Director of Manufacturing Capital Implementation and must have significant experience with working in a plastics processing operation, preferably injection molding or plastics recycling operation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Management of large multi-faceted projects. Must develop and execute project budgets, timelines, and scope. Must be effective in communication of project status and results.
  • Develop project scope, costs, justification, and schedule for assigned projects. Prepare and present capital request documentation as required.
  • Work with internal and external engineering resources, as well as equipment vendors to design and install new equipment and processes or reconfigure and upgrade existing equipment to suit the needs of the business.
  • Manage contractors, as well as internal resources during project execution.
  • Lead and participate in project startup including troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and process systems.
  • Develop equipment and process design standards for assigned areas of operations.
  • Must be resourceful, open to taking on, and executing projects that are outside the individual's current skillset.
  • Review facility and equipment concept drawings in CAD. Must be able to generate basic facility layout concepts in CAD. This position does not require proficiency in detailed CAD design, rather the capability to review drawings and make basic conceptualization drawings is required.
  • May supervise other engineers and must be willing and capable of doing so. Initially, this position DOES NOT require the candidate to be a supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS in Mechanical, Electrical or Plastics Engineering.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience working in plastics, preferably in injection molding. Ideally this experience is as a plastics facility manufacturing engineer. Skills with extrusion and processing recycled plastics would also be considered desirable. Candidates must have plastics experience to be considered for this position.
  • Must have functional expertise in two or more of the following areas:
    • Large and complex equipment installation, preferably injection molding equipment.
    • Facility construction including equipment foundations and utilities.
    • Facility process water systems.
    • Injection molding material conveyance systems.
  • Experience using 2D CAD software. This is not a CAD designer position but requires someone who has the skillset to work with CAD data.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office software.
  • Willing to work flexible hours as required by ongoing operations and projects.
  • Exposure to Lean and/or Six Sigma methods.
