We are looking for a talented Senior Field Technician who will be responsible for performing the field checkout on upgrades, performing field repairs, and mentoring junior technicians on industrial test stands and dynamometers for the LINK North America Service division and ensure machines remain calibrated and fully functional from the start of warranty through machine decommissioning.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Perform field checkout and start-up of industrial test stand and dynamometer upgrades

  • Complete functional checkout workbook and performance verification of equipment.  Correct deviations to specification.

  • Inspect & test all machine subsystems

  • Troubleshoot electro-mechanical, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems

  • Perform equipment calibration to ISO 17025 standards

  • Proper documentation in start-up workbook and service database

  • Troubleshoot beyond the workbook with little oversight

  • Timely and accurate execution of the start-up process

  • Interpret test data

  • Edit test scripts

  • Perform checkout on customer upgrades

  • Update & Test system (ProLINK)

  • Fulfill field service calls as assigned

  • Interface with Customer regarding field repairs

  • Communicate LINK upgrade and service offerings

  • Act in the capacity of a LINK Manufacturing Equipment Validation technician as required

  • Perform functional checkout and performance verification of equipment

  • Effectively mentor LINK Service Technicians and Calibration Technicians

  • Initiate continuous improvement activities related to the machine start-up process, efficiency, safety.

  • Interface with Engineering on subsystem R&D on existing and new products

  • R&D assistance (design experiments and produce a result report)

  • Ensure work is performed in a safe manner using all available safety equipment.

  • Adherence to company policies.

  • Adherence to LINK quality process and procedures and identify continuous improvement opportunities implementing through our quality system.

  • Be a role model and advocate of the LINK culture that is consistent and emphasizes the identified mission, vision, and values of the organization.

  • Embody the Ownership Brand Driver (Accountability, Commitment, Can-Do Attitude, Courage, & Humility).

  • Responsible for submitting an accurate labor ticket on a daily basis.



  • 2-year degree in Mechatronics, Industrial Electronics, or equivalent related work experience

  • 5 years of experience commissioning and repairing industrial machines (preferred)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Functional knowledge of electrical and electronic principals

  • Fundamental knowledge of relay logic, PLC control, various feedback sensors and transducers, AC and DC motor and drive controllers, pneumatic & hydraulic components, closed-loop PID controls, and various electro-mechanical devices

  • Strong mechanical aptitude  Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance

  • Computers and Electronics- Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming

  • Engineering and technology- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services

  • Troubleshooting- Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it

  • Critical Thinking- Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical and hydraulic & pneumatic schematics

  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills with an emphasis on root cause analysis

  • Moderate level of soldering and de-soldering skills

  • Experience with writing or de-bugging existing software script style languages (a plus)

  • Ability to communicate with customers across all levels


  • Physical activity will include lifting (up to 50 lbs.), bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity.

  • Ability to travel locally 75% Metro Detroit and 25% US
