Overview

World Wildlife Fund (WWF), one of the world's leading conservation organization, seeks a Senior Director, Forests and Climate based in our Washington, DC office (no remote locations will be considered). In consultation with the Deputy Lead, Forest, the Senior Director leads the Forest and Climate initiative and a team of global experts. Sets strategic direction for WWF's Forest & Climate efforts, oversees relevant programs and initiatives, and provides technical support and strategic direction for forest climate solutions, to deliver against WWF-US/WWF Network goals. Manages budget and contributes to fundraising for the team and manages program staff.



Responsibilities

  • Lead and update strategy, including geographical and thematic priorities, for WWF work on forest and climate to deliver results against WWF-US / WWF's Forest and Climate goals.
  • Lead and coordinate expert forest and climate support for the implementation of actions and interventions that deliver results.
  • Represent WWF-US and, when appropriate, the network Forest Practice, in forests and climate discussions/negotiations and coalition-building to advance forest sector ambition and commitments.
  • Contribute to fundraising efforts in conjunction with other WWF staff.
  • Liaise with the Forest Practice and with the Climate and Energy Practice (and other Practices, as relevant) to align objectives, and to plan and coordinate forest and climate technical support towards network priorities.
  • Develop and engage in NGO coalitions to develop and advance joint proposals/positions relevant for the objectives of WWF-US/Network Forest Goal and in alignment with the network Forest Practice.
  • Provide policy guidance and political support to WWF priority countries to advance forest and climate goals and objectives.
