Amherst College invites applications for the Senior Development Officer position. The Senior Development Officer is a full time, year-round position, job group and level PT-5. Given Amherst's distinction as one of the top liberal arts colleges in the country, the successful candidate will fundraise in support of the college's mission, values, and priorities.

The Senior Development Ocer will manage a portfolio of leadership-gift level Amherst alumni donors and prospective donors and be responsible for the design and implementation of their cultivation and solicitation strategies. The Senior Development Ocer will travel frequently to engage in conversations with alumni, parents and other constituents leading to six and seven gure gifts. Reporting to the Senior Director of Leadership Giving, the Senior Development Ocer will be an integral member of the College's Leadership Giving team, as well as the Advancement staff.

This individual will take appropriate actions to support a diverse workforce and participate in the College's eorts to create a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment.

Summary of Principal Duties and Responsibilities:



Fundraising
  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 125 Amherst alumni donors and prospective donors and
  • Responsible for the design and implementation of their cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies, which can include organizing small donor/prospect events, participating in and/or representing the college at major events, coordinating/involving senior college sta and alumni/parent volunteers.
  • Frequent travel to engage these key members of the Amherst community.
  • Close six- and seven-gure gifts in support of Amherst's established priorities.
  • Effectively collaborate with an increasingly diverse staff and alumni body.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum ve years experience in development/advancement eld or relevant experience in a related eld.
  • Proven success closing six-gure and above gifts or applicable and relevant experience in a related eld.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate and advance relationships strategically and proactively.
  • Proven track record in working effectively with a diverse population across constituencies.
  • An unassailable sense of judgment and integrity.
  • Personal capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to travel 35-50% of the time to dierent areas of the country.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills.
