Job Description Summary
The Senior Business Analyst provides strategic business analysis skills and product management services to administrative business departments across the University. The focus of this position is to work closely with the business units to gain in-depth understanding of customer's business strategy, processes, services, roadmap and the context in which the business operates in order to improve efficiencies in technology use within the unit. This role will be key to the successful adoption of Workday along with other supporting applications as needed.

The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for reviewing assigned business processes from end-to-end to identify and address operational and technological risks and to identify opportunities to improve efficiency. Responsibilities will include a full range of activities from providing business solutions in a department to being a key player on larger, more complex cross-department or cross-divisional projects.

Essential Duties
  • Provide product management support through the lifecycle of administrative applications from selection, implementation, configuration to ongoing support.
  • Collaborate with administrative business units across the University to identify areas for technology improvement. Design and implement solutions to meet business unit needs working with existing applications.
  • Provide advice and guidance to clients seeking to expand feature sets of existing applications or looking to 3rd party applications to fill gaps.
  • Manage customer relationships and expectations by developing a communication process to keep others up-to-date on work progress
  • Stay current with customer needs and strategies; utilize formal and informal written communication methods to communicate updates and findings; facilitate meetings and presentations to all types of diverse audiences.
  • Provide and support the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders; identifying business needs; determining and carrying out necessary processes and practices; monitoring progress and results; recognizing improvement opportunities; and adapting to competing demands, organizational changes and new responsibilities
  • Collaborate closely with developers to implement requirements, provide necessary guidance to testers during QA process
  • Identify improvement opportunities (proactive and reactive)
  • Elicit and clearly document business and systems requirements
  • Assess business process and system inefficiencies
  • Identify ways to increase adoption and customer satisfaction
  • Understand and negotiate needs and expectations of multiple stakeholders
  • Serve as a liaison between business units and IT to assist or gather business requirements needed for system modifications, enhancement and implementations
  • Develop test plans in conjunction with clients; monitor test plan completion
  • Support system conversions, upgrades, enhancements


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with 4-6 years of experience working with systems in a functional capacity. Experience in higher education preferred.
  • Experience working on large scale projects as well as handling day-to-day operational requests from the business
  • Strong business analysis skills; ability to successfully manage multiple tasks at any given point, strong relationship building skills and communication skills
  • Strong data analysis skills - proficiency with report writing, Microsoft Excel
  • Additional skills and proficiency in communication, technical understanding of data analysis and structures, problem solving,leadership, teamwork, client management, and business operations


Work Environment
  • Typical office setting with extensive sitting and computer work
  • Ability to travel to other locations on campus for meetings and other work
