Amgen is seeking an enthusiastic, collaborative Senior Associate to join the Cardiometabolic Disorders drug discovery team here at Thousand Oaks, CA. The successful candidate will be expected to perform laboratory experiments, analyze data, communicate results, and develop solutions to technical problems under some supervision. The Senior Associate will have broad laboratory training, deep scientific curiosity and a positive approach working in a team-based research environment. Finally, the successful candidate will bring significant experience in molecular and cellular biology techniques and performing in vitro assays.

Basic Qualifications

Master's degree or Master's degree completed by June 2020

Bachelor's degree and 2 years of scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's and 2+ years of laboratory-based research experience in academic or industrial labs

Hands on experience with molecular and cellular biology techniques including RNA and protein extraction and analysis, quantitative PCR and mammalian cell culture

Hands on experience and knowledge in developing, validating and executing cell-based and biochemical assays, including ELISA/immunological assays and cAMP assays

Previous experience working with primary adipocytes

Previous drug discovery experience

Be pro-active, show a desire to learn new techniques, and adhere to timelines

Strong organizational and notebook/record keeping skills

Highly motivated, creative, collaborative and detail-oriented

Effective verbal and written communication skills

Work effectively in a highly collaborative research environment

Computer literacy, e.g., GraphPad Prism, Excel, PowerPoint and Word
