Description:

We are looking for an individual to join our Catalyst Development Team. The Research & Development Researcher will be responsible for discovery and development of heterogeneous catalysts for commodity or specialty chemical applications. This includes synthesis and evaluation of catalysts in the laboratory, as well as the transfer of this technology to larger scale implementation.
The ideal candidate will be able to develop relationships, mentor colleagues, and represent the organization as a technical contact on projects. This is an exciting opportunity to make an important impact in Braskems Technology Group.

Additional Responsibilities and Activities Include:

Participate on project teams completing research. Develop and implement comprehensive technical project plans
Plan and initiate independent research programs in support of business goals
Assist in technology transfer to manufacturing & aid in scale-up support
Maintain current knowledge of heterogeneous catalysis chemistry
Conduct hands-on catalytic reactions and catalysts characterizations. Supervise and mentor technicians and support lab colleagues.
Build and expand core technology through careful study of the literature, new scientific discovery, external development and development of intellectual property.
Transfer knowledge to fellow researchers via presentations, technical reports and day-to-day interaction.
Goal Zero mindset. Basic safety skills include: SDS awareness, chemical storage, waste disposal, proper handling of toxic or hazardous materials and familiarity with safe laboratory operating principles.
Excellent written and oral communication skills

Requirements

The ideal candidate needs to have a strong knowledge of heterogeneous catalysis and technology as well as a knowledge of catalyst characterization. Creativity, entrepreneurship, initiative and good critical judgment are essential for this role. Strong technical and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with other departments and those outside the technology and Innovation Center. Track record of implementing creative and innovative technologies. Demonstrated excellent verbal & written communication skills. Responsible for development of new catalysts.

Required Skills, Education, and Experience:

PhD in Chemical Engineering or related field with experience in heterogeneous catalysis and chemical reaction technology. Zero to 5 years experience in catalyst technology and development.
