Position Purpose

The Research Assistant (RA) will be part of a dynamic, collaborative team in the Center for Technology and Behavioral Health and play an essential role in a research study funded by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) to study the effect of different models of medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for pregnant women with opioid use disorder and their infants. S/he will work closely with the Project Director and study leadership team to carry out day-to-day activities of the study.

This position is funded by a grant. Continuation is based upon available funds.

Research Responsibilities:

Participant Recruitment (20%)

  • Creates recruitment materials and coordinates with partner maternity care practices to distribute of materials.
  • Conducts outreach, recruitment, screening, and consenting of pregnant women with OUD for study participation.

Participant Tracking (20%)

  • Contacts participants to schedule for initial and follow up study assessments, and actively implement participant follow up strategies to retain participants for follow up.
  • Tracks participant assessment completion in study database system.

Data Collection and Integrity (20%)

  • Administers study assessments (patient-reported surveys) at designated time points.
  • Schedules and assists in conducting of qualitative interviews with patient participants and maternity care providers.
  • Assists in coding of qualitative interview transcripts.
  • Ensures timely payment of all study participant and documents disbursing of incentives.
  • Reviews entered data, resolve data queries, and about missing information. Documents all data accurately and according to protocol.
  • Ensures that study activities are carried out according to protocol, including but not limited to participant recruitment and screening, implementation of study assessments and interviews, and required documentation.

Documentation (20%)

  • Maintains study files in accordance with federal regulations.
  • Assures that participant and data confidentiality and integrity are maintained.
  • Assures that Federal guidelines and requirements are met.
  • Prepares data summaries, presentations, reports for funding partner, and manuscripts.
  • Prepares research documents for institution review boards.

Literature Review (10%)

  • Conduct literature searches related to study topic for use in presentations, reports, and manuscripts.

Communication/Presentation (10%)

  • Maintains consistent communication with the Project Director and study leadership team.
  • Effectively communicates and personally supports the College's values to foster inclusiveness and diversity.
  • Effectively and ethically communicates study protocol and research goals to study partners.
  • Participates in ongoing trainings and keeps abreast of developments in the field.
  • Properly represents CTBH and Dartmouth College in all aspects of employment and associated duties.
