Job Summary

The Quality Assurance Engineer will be responsible for testing NIC web-based applications and base-level data validation. They will work in an Agile development environment and may work on several projects at once with multiple, competing priorities and deadlines from project managers. They must be able to write, maintain and execute automated tests as well as manual testing during sprints and releases to ensure high-quality data and features across environments.

The QA Engineer must be able to perform thorough regression testing after issues have been corrected to ensure no new issues have arisen. In addition to testing, they must troubleshoot to identify, or assist developers in finding, the root cause of problems. They must write tests based on acceptance criteria to thoroughly vet existing and new features and data sets and have the ability to analyze new features to understand the impact on existing functionality and automated and manual tests.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Interact with product management and development teams to develop a strong understanding of the project and testing objectives
  • Design and implement system test and regression plans, test cases, and automated test scripts
  • Provide detailed root cause analysis
  • Monitor all stages of software development deployment cycle to identify and resolve system malfunctions to meet quality standards.
  • Communicate issues in a clear and concise manner to product management and developers
  • Participate in all aspects of testing, including functional, regression, load/performance, system, and user acceptance testing
