The Infectious Disease Research Institute (IDRI) is a Seattle-based non-profit research organization committed to developing products to prevent, detect and treat infectious diseases. IDRI translates basic research to develop vaccines, diagnostics and drugs for applications in global health. We focus on antigen discovery and development, adjuvant formulation and delivery, therapeutic molecule discovery and development, and biomarker discovery for diagnostics. IDRI's leadership in the global health community extends to international alliances and partnerships with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, universities, research institutes, governments, and public health organizations.

We are recruiting a motivated project manager to work collaboratively with our scientific staff and external funders.

Responsibilities

  • Work with senior management to develop project plans and revise them as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
  • Develop project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools
  • Track project milestones, deliverables, risks and day-to-day operational aspects of projects
  • Coordinate the development of progress reports and presentations
  • Present project status on timeline, budget, deliverables and milestones to senior leadership
  • Liaise with project stakeholders and external collaborators on an ongoing basis
  • Coordinate transfer of materials between internal and external stakeholders
  • Hold regular status meetings with project teams to include preparing and distributing agendas, data documents, and meeting minutes
  • Keep project team well informed of upcoming milestones, changes and general news
  • Review project expenses, develop and track budgets, and provide support to finance department and scientific teams on budget management
  • Assist PI and work with Sponsored Research Administration for submission of new grant and contract proposals
  • Work with IDRI legal team members and external partners to draft and execute CDA, MTA, CRADA, Service Agreements and/or other legal contracts central to a project

Requirements

  • Three to eight years of experience as a project manager in research and development of therapeutics, vaccines, or diagnostics, global health, or experience in GXP/Clinical Operations
  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis on biology, chemistry, immunology, or related field
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Ability to prioritize activities and skilled at getting teams to set and/or meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills including knowledge management, file management, and time management
  • Proficient in MS Project and MS Office Suite
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to elicit, without formal authority, cooperation from a wide variety of sources and stakeholders, both internal and external to the organization
  • Ability to learn, understand, and apply new technologies
  • Self-starter who takes initiative to drive projects forward

Highly Desirable

  • PMP certification or project management certificate
  • MS/PhD degree
  • Familiar with legal agreements and intellectual property rights
  • A scientific background plus experience in biotech, pharmaceuticals, or global health
