Are you looking for a challenging new opportunity to test and growth your technical skills? We have an immediate need for a Project Manager to join AML's Formulation and Filling Operations Team. This is an outstanding opportunity to seek a variety of challenges and responsibilities in support to our manufacturing facility at Amgen Manufacturing Limited in Juncos, Puerto Rico.

The Role

The Project Manager role will support the execution of manufacturing/quality systems such as productivity/capacity projects, trainings, and business processes. Apply operational, science based, basic compliance knowledge, analytical and problem-solving skills to support manufacturing operations. May serve as the main contact for operational excellence and assist on problem solving on more complex process systems in AML-14 Manufacturing Areas that can include any of the following: Component Preparation, Dispensing, Thawing, Formulation, Analytical Laboratory, Vial Filling and Syringe Filling.

Specific Responsibilities includes but are not limited to:
  • Applies knowledge of Operational Excellence principles and practices in broad areas of assignments
  • Recommends improvements, develops business cases and capability studies, and presents proposals to management.
  • Assess process performance by observation of floor operations and review of performance data.
  • Assist in generation of training materials and may assist in providing training on technical aspects of the process.
  • Provide support of timely execution of OE reports.
  • Lead or support implementation of special projects or initiatives.
  • Work with project leads to complete design and plans within schedule, budget and quality constraints.
  • Interact successfully with Internal/External Customers, Managers, Operations Leaders, Financial Representatives and Manufacturing Leaders and Staff during execution of plans, new initiatives, and routine tasks.
  • Supports AML14 leadership in analysis of operations, planning of activities, long range planning, and deployment of strategic initiatives.
  • Supports idea generation in functions to ensure a pipeline of ongoing projects and pending ideas to align with short- and long-term objectives
  • Facilitate / participate in network benchmarking (learning / sharing)

You will Need:

Doctorate degree and 1 year of manufacturing operation, project management or quality experience

or

Master's degree and 3 years of manufacturing operation, project management or quality experience

or

Bachelor's degree and 5 years of manufacturing operation, project management or quality experience

Beyond that, additional preferred qualification are:
  • Educational background in Life Sciences or Engineering
  • Working knowledge of pharmaceutical/biotech processes
  • Skilled in performance of GMP production operations
  • Regulatory knowledge and interactions
  • Participate and help lead cross-functional teams
  • Conceptual problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with technical and management staff within manufacturing, process development, and quality.
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, and negotiating skills
  • Excellent communications skills (oral and written) and comprehend in English and Spanish
  • Project Management skills with basics knowledge of cost/benefit analysis
  • Computer Literacy; advanced Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Power Point, and management of databases such as Spotfire, Smartsheet
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing (i.e., waste identification, Kaizen, etc.) and other improvement methodologies such as Lean/Six Sigma DMAIC (Certified Preferred)
