Your Role: The Project Manager (PM) will direct and work with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement plans for complex projects involving multiple stakeholders, and is responsible for working directly with a Development Vice President to spearhead inter-departmental and inter-agency coordination. The PM will also assume analytical responsibilities which support the entire Division's data driven approach to strengthening neighborhoods, and will have the opportunity to contribute to a range of high-profile projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Articulate vision and evaluate feasibility for future development based on sound planning principles and market realities
  • Work with interagency working groups on select projects, including large-scale planning and development efforts, meeting frequently to move projects forward and address challenges
  • Strategically identify next steps to advance projects
  • Craft and manage public outreach processes
  • Represent the organization in professional and public forums
  • Build and maintain relationships with governmental and quasi-governmental entities; real estate and business groups; civic & community organizations; cultural and professional organizations; and advocacy groups
  • Develop financing and implementation strategies for interim and long-term uses
  • Produce complex analytic work, including identifying local and citywide trends and patterns to support Departmental work
  • Conduct market analysis, case study research, and public policy analysis
  • Produce data visualizations and graphics for internal briefings of senior staff and public reports, documents, and presentations
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in urban planning, real estate, public policy, law, or related field
  • 2-3 years' experience in planning, community and economic development, analytics or the equivalent
  • Demonstrated expertise in project management
  • Strong interpersonal, written, verbal and analytical skills
  • General computer skills, project scheduling (i.e. MS Word, Outlook)
  • Strength in spreadsheets, presentation, and project management applications, e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
  • Experience with structuring and facilitating community planning processes
  • Strong analytic and critical thinking skills
  • Strong ability to draw conclusions with data and articulate the relevant implications for public policy
  • Experience with conducting market analysis, case study research, and public policy analysis
  • Strong understanding of urban infrastructure and economic development issues
  • Strong entrepreneurial and leadership ability, including interpersonal and public speaking skills
  • New York City residence is required within 180 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong experience working with large data sets, in particular data sets relating to housing, the economy, and populations
  • Excellent Excel and data analysis skills including use of data visualization tools such as Carto and Tableau
  • Strong GIS skills
  • Have a strong foundation in fundamentals of real estate economics, development, and public policy
  • Passion for urban development and opportunities facing cities
