POSITION SUMMARY:

The Professional Services Revenue Cycle Coordinator (RC Coordinator) acts as the liaison between the AtlantiCare Physician Group (APG) Revenue Cycle Department and APG client medical practices and ARMC client departments for all professional billing activities. This liaison role is critical to the smooth overall execution of the professional billing revenue cycle policies and procedures which are designed to ensure optimal collections through the controlled and efficient use of revenue cycle resources.

The RC coordinator works under the direct supervision of the Director Revenue Cycle Professional Services (Director) to assist in monitoring revenue cycle activity on a proactive basis to identify revenue cycle opportunities, to timely identify process weaknesses and lost revenue opportunities.

The RC Coordinator provides training and process improvement guidance and assistance across clinical departments for the development of consistent and comprehensive revenue cycle practices. The RC Coordinator reviews and monitors performance of operational staff who are engaged in revenue cycle related activities, e.g., encounter coding, patient registration, charge capture and point of service collections, to ensure that management adopted policies procedures and internal controls that safeguard assets are complied with.

The RC Coordinator assists in the evaluation and monitoring of corporate compliance standards; particularly those related to medical billing, data security and protected health information.

The RC Coordinator works with the AtlantiCare Information Technology EMR and Ingenious Med implementation teams to facilitate new installations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: High School diploma required; Associate's degree in related field preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: None

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 10 years previous experience of the medical A/R follow-up process, denial management experience required in lieu of degree. Knowledge of insurance company practices regarding reimbursement. Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial -- electronic and paper claims processing required. Knowledge of ICD, CPT, and HCPCS coding required. Familiarity with A/R and Financial Reports required. Strong organizational skills. Knowledge of HL 835 and HL 837 transaction sets required. Strong verbal and written skills in order to effectively communicate with patients, co-workers, insurance companies and clients.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:

Demonstrates the ability to perform the department specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position requires sitting in front of a computer terminal the majority of the time, and requires standing, stooping and lifting some of the time.
