Production Coordinator

THE ROLE:

The Production Coordinator is an integral member of the Houston factory team and is responsible for the delivery of overhead bridge cranes of varying size and complexity. The Production Coordinator is responsible for driving, organizing and controlling various project activities, under the direction of the Factory Manager and in coordination with various other team members.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, organize and establish manufacturing work schedules with the factory operative staff based on delivery date requirements
  • Resolve scheduling conflicts, and negotiate delivery dates as necessary between factory and front-line project manager
  • Coordinate and review the work of shipping, receiving and production to ensure successful delivery of finished product
  • Follow the status of materials, components, and drawings from the internal supply chain and external vendors to verify that required elements will arrive in time to meet scheduled delivery dates
  • Expedite deliveries and drawings when necessary
  • Consolidate shipments of components from the supply chain to minimize freight costs
  • Use project scheduling and control tools to monitor and maintain the project backlog as well as establish manufacturing schedules
  • Effectively and accurately communicate relevant project information to the factory floor and front-line project managers
  • Work to resolve technical problems and arrange technical support as necessary
  • Oversee factory acceptance testing (FAT) of finished products and ensure any identified FAT issues are resolved prior to shipping
  • Oversee third-party and client inspections when required
  • Ensure customers' needs are met in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Maintain accuracy and reliability of delivery data in backlogs
  • Report project status to all stakeholders via direct communication and using current scheduling software
  • Communicate ideas for improving company processes with a positive and constructive attitude
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations in the Houston facility and when visiting other company or client facilities
  • Assist the Factory with consumables / indirect purchases as the need arises


QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor or Associates degree in mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering technology, business management, supply chain management, project management - or - suitable experience
  • 2-5 years of experience supporting scheduling, manufacturing or project management activities
  • Effective communication skills including verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team based environment
  • Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite of products
  • Familiarity with mechanical and electrical principles is an asset
