Product Manager

The Product Manager DPM Focus is responsible for identifying, executing, and promoting product strategies that position SentryOne as a leader in providing software tools that enable Data Performance Management (DPM) for Microsoft technologies.


  • Build and grow relationships with internal business stakeholders including Sales, Marketing, Development, and Professional Services for the planning and execution of the product lifecycle.

  • Establish a presence in the DPM community and drive engagement surrounding areas of product responsibility.

  • Assist with updating and maintaining detailed long-term roadmaps focusing on solving pervasive market problems for DPM practitioners.

  • Seek customer and evaluator engagement to better understand how to position and direct our product offerings.

  • Partner with company executives to define and internally promote our long-term DPM product strategy.

  • Maintain a well-groomed backlog of detailed requirements for development and testing efforts across the DPM relevant SentryOne product offerings. This includes any planned integrations across product lines.

  • Accurately maintain and communicate detailed product release schedules and priorities for stakeholders.

  • Conduct planned audience appropriate training sessions on both upcoming product releases and the roadmap for sales, marketing and technical resources.

  • Maintain a high level of personal industry involvement and education in order to recognize gaps in product offerings as well as future product opportunities.

  • Translate the technical context of customer requirements into terms that our software development team can clearly understand and plan out.

  • Develop functional requirements and product positioning that can be used for validation of solving pervasive market problems for DPM practitioners.

  • Work with the technical documentation and product marketing groups to promote product functionality and key benefits.

  • Review marketing materials and adjust where needed to best position the product.

  • Coordinate with Product Marketing on go-to-market initiatives.

  • Participate, as needed, in the staffing and speaking at industry related tradeshows and events.

  • Serve as the internal and external evangelist for the SentryOne DPM strategy, occasionally working with the sales channel and key customers.

  • Serve as a community driver for SentryOne, helping conceive and execute strategies to drive awareness of SentryOne in the data community, through online outreach (blogs, participation in forums and channels, etc.) and in-person outreach (through participation and organization of user-driven events, speaking at events, participating in customer visits and sales calls, and other related activities.


Ability to Multi Task: Proven ability to manage multiple project schedules and oversee a large team of staff on a variety of projects, long and short duration.

Leadership: Ability to motivate and mentor junior and senior staff and foster employee career growth.

Communication: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, problem resolution and analytical skills.  Ability to interact and successfully communicate across multiple levels of the organization is a must.

Problem Solving: Builds a logical approach to addressing problems and opportunities. Manages the situation at hand by drawing on one's knowledge and experience base. Calls on other references and resources as necessary without regard or desire for personal agenda.

Focus: Maintains sustained focus on delivering the right product at the right time, as well as delivering the product right. Avoids involving the greater group in ideas or opportunities until they have been validated with market research.

Attention-To-Detail: Directs attention to the smallest details, analyzing and questioning even the smallest decisions in order to ensure the best possible outcome for the largest market segment.


  • Bachelors degree required; advanced degree desirable; or equivalent experience

  • Highly experienced in Data Performance Management practices using Microsoft technologies

  • Six Sigma, Scrum Product Owner or project management experience a plus

  • 20-30% travel is possible
