The Department of Inflammation Research is seeking a highly motivated Principal Scientist to lead target discovery and therapeutic development for respiratory diseases, such as asthma, COPD, and other lung diseases. The candidate needs to have established research track record in airway inflammation/remodeling and lung repair/regeneration. The candidate will lead a research team to investigate the molecular and cellular pathways that are involved in the pathogenesis of diseases and identify novel therapeutic pathways. In addition, the candidate will lead and work with other scientists to provide strategic vision in identifying novel therapeutic focuses in multiple disease areas. The candidate needs to work with other groups at multiple Amgen sites, including teams in other functional areas such as Therapeutic Discovery, Medical Sciences, and Computational Biology to drive therapeutic projects. The candidates will be expected to publish and to present at national/international conferences.

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 3 years of Scientific experience

OR

Master's degree and 6 years of scientific experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 8 years of scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D or MD, with postdoctoral trainings and more than 10 years independent research experience in the field of immunology and/or pulmonary disorders

Demonstrated track record of independent critical thinking and scientific achievement in research, exemplified by a strong publication record in top tier journals and/or record in drug development

Strong verbal and written communication skills, and able to work effectively in a highly collaborative research environment
