The Samsung Device Lab (SDL) develops simulation solutions for advanced semiconductor manufacturing technology requirements. The Device Lab was initiated in January 2011 and is based in Silicon Valley. The lab focuses on the development of Technology Computer Aided Design (TCAD) models and simulation software for deploying advanced manufacturing processes for semiconductor devices and materials. SDL supports logic, memory and LED technology development, as well as the development of compact models for advanced logic and memory technology.

In addition, the teams of top engineering talent at the lab conduct pioneering TCAD-based device research on extremely low-power applications, and advanced model and metrology development for the Optical Proximity Correction (OPC) used in semiconductor device manufacturing.

We are looking for experienced technologists who will independently research and explore future logic technology paths, capabilities, and applications. Exploration areas include transistors, interconnects, embedded memories, new innovations in process, materials, and integration schemes, as well as design/system-technology optimization (DTCO).

The candidate will be a key technical member of the Logic Pathfinding group, part of the Samsung Semiconductor Inc (SSI) Device Lab in San Jose. He or she will join a team of experts in researching and evaluating advanced technology options, and assisting in knowledge / technology transfer to the Samsung Logic Technology Development (TD) in Korea. The successful candidate will be responsible for researching and evaluating new device architectures, materials, and integration schemes to meet the need of sub-5nm technology nodes. The candidate should have strong understanding of state-of-the-art device integration implementations, key challenges, and device scaling limitations. The candidate should have excellent communication skills, and be able to collaborate with and guide multiple organizations, including research consortia, to develop internal benchmarking needed in developing a technology roadmap.

  • Analysis of new device architectures, materials, and integrations schemes
