Overview
Discovery Inc is currently looking for a PR Assistant to support the food portfolio (Food Network, Cooking Channel) in our New York City office.
Responsibilities
1. Support Senior Vice President and Public Relations Director in any press related activities - coordinate press mailings, assist on network events
2. Manage Cision portal tracking for all publicity hits; point for News Exposure/clip ordering and Burrelles for key-word tracking
3. Organize and distribute weekly breaks/clip report and other pertinent press communications
4. Researches and updates department press lists and editorial calendars, maintain and distribute press release calendar across the team
5. Coordinate talent relations schedules as directed, managing talent at-a-glance weekly document
6. Maintain budget doc tracker, process invoices and participate in day-to-day department budget management (with SVP and Director oversight)
7. Schedule monthly review of Food Network Magazine with Hearst, coordinate book review across teams and compile all notes to go back to Hearst
8. Work with PR coordinator on managing all project status sheets
9. Support PR Director on all awards submissions and tracking
10. Maintain PR closet inventory
Qualifications
* College degree or equivalent experience preferred
* 1-3 years administrative/executive secretarial experience in a fast-paced office environment preferred
* Computer literacy with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
* Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
* Attention to detail a must
* Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively
* Has ability to take on more responsibility as the departments evolves/grows
* Ideal candidate must effectively troubleshoot with an eye toward anticipating, identifying and forming strategic solutions
* Occasional overtime may be required (specifically timed to events, festivals, upfronts, etc.)
* Must have the legal right to work in the United States
