Work Schedule:           Generally, M-F 8am to 5pm  

Travel Time %:            Minimally up to 10%

Position Type:             Full -time

FLSA Status:               Exempt



Position Summary:

The Plant Manager is responsible to direct and manages all plant operations with overall responsibilities for personnel, production, maintenance, quality and other production-related activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  



  • Direct and manage plant operations for production, maintenance, quality, clean room, shipping and receiving

  • Coordinate plant activities through planning with departmental managers to insure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner

  • Implement cost effective systems of control over operating expenditures, manpower and wages

  • Establish and monitor overall plant performance for production and quality standards

  • Control and minimize labor overtime, premium freight and repair expenses

  • Coordinate plans to maintain existing plant facilities and equipment; replace, or make adjustments to plant facilities and equipment when necessary

  • Provide leadership to accomplish the company goals and objectives

  • Provides direction, development and leadership to production supervisor

  • Develop and control profits, plans, and budget

  • Coach and develop personnel



Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Conduct management performance evaluations

  • Schedule and conduct plant meetings



Supervisory Responsibility:

Direct Reports: HR Specialist, Maintenance Manager, Packing Supervisor, Cooking Supervisor, Clean-room Supervisor and Quality Assurance Supervisor.


 


In addition to managing current direct reports; this position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management within that department.



  • Responsible for interviewing, selecting and training direct reports

  • Is responsible for reviewing performance and administers corrective action

  • Plans the work schedules, assigns duties, tracks absenteeism and reviews work to ensure quality standards

  • Responsible for monitoring work for legal or regulatory compliance

  • Observes and practices safety and housekeeping procedures at all times

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:



  • Above average understanding of accounting and financial processes and data

  • Should have basic knowledge of facility engineering, sales, packing processes

  • Advanced interpersonal and supervisory skills.



Education and Work Experience:

Required: 



  • Bachelors degree in business, accounting, finance, or related

  • 3+ years management experience



Desired:



  • Minimum 5 years operations experience in mushroom or manufacturing industry

  • Background in Chemistry or Biology
