Milton J Wood Company is seeking an experienced Payroll Coordinator for an immediate opportunity at their North Jacksonville location. Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in Payroll processing. Must have strong data entry and 10 key skills; excellent organizational and time management skills, the ability to communicate effectively with clients, job sites, and management. The candidate will be able to handle high volume and work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. If you are self-motivated & a team player, this job is for you!
This position is responsible for ensuring accurate processing and recording of weekly payroll for two companies; addressing employee questions and resolving payroll-related issues in a timely manner. Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Set up employee records.
- Compile and enter payroll data such as hours worked, taxes, insurance, and union dues to be withheld, and employee identification numbers, from timesheets and other records.
- Prepare computer input forms, enter data into computer files, or compute wages and deductions and posts to payroll records.
- Review wages computed and correct errors to ensure accuracy of payroll.
- Record changes affecting net wages such as exemptions, insurance coverage, and loan payments for each employee to update master payroll records.
- Prepare periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions.
- Keep records of leave pay and nontaxable wages.
- Process payroll and issues paychecks.
- Process payoffs.
- Employment verifications.
- Distribute job cost, labor cost, certified and other misc. reports.
- Process unemployment claims, levies, and garnishments.
- Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
- Provide payroll information by answering questions and requests.
- Maintain payroll operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
- Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
- Maintain Union contract files and set up Union fringes and deducts.
- Calculate Union fringes and deducts for payouts and reconcile payouts.
- Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Qualified applicants must have a working knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook. Prior experience in payroll, strong data entry skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are required.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Accounting software; Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
