Position Summary

This leadership position is a “hands on”, working manager role responsible for overseeing the production, work volume, quality level and employees in the paint shop. Hands on experience in this line of work is required. This position requires a high collaboration, energetic disposition, detail orientation, and excels in their craft.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Make recommendations and manage equipment purchases, personnel needs, and equipment maintenance.
  • Supervise the completion of work order forms to ensure accurate records.
  • Prepare estimates for repairs.
  • Set department performance objectives and manage for results.
  • Coach paint shop employees as needed and provide performance feedback.
  • Review work volumes, plan and continuously monitor staffing levels to ensure efficiency and quality of work product, while maintaining a safe work environment always. This involves evaluating the safety hazards on the job and determining and enforcing the precautions, procedures, and PPE needed.
  • Manage and may provide “hands-on” support the activities of all body shop operations with professionalism and integrity.
  • Other duties, responsibilities, or activities may be assigned at any time.

  • Work professionally and effectively with paint shop personnel to create a team atmosphere.
  • Direct the work of employees; provide direction for daily tasks and activities.
  • Adapt to and employ latest technologies in all paint and body work / collision repair.
  • Provide accurate labor and material estimates.
  • Experience in vinyl decal installation.
  • Produce quality repairs timely and effectively.
  • Manage and motivate personnel to achieve consistent excellence in work product.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly and organized shop atmosphere and environment. Ensure that equipment is maintained in proper working condition.

Qualifications & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent. Five years’ experience managing a paint or body shop. Demonstrated successful experience and knowledge in the latest technologies in all paint and body work / collision repair. Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk and hear. The employee regularly is required to walk and reach with hands. The employee is occasionally required to stand; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee frequently uses computer keyboard, regularly travels (as vehicle driver and as passenger on various modes of transportation), and occasionally performs work on-site at construction work sites. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employee views computer monitor frequently.
