The NBD Consultant at McCoy-Rockford is responsible for initiating and closing profitable furniture sales. Serving as the primary contact for the client during the sales process, the Consultant have a will to win, and work in tandem with the other support functions (design, project management, sales support, etc.) to ensure that client needs are met and client satisfaction is achieved.

This position is responsible for introducing prospects to our industry leading values, high-tech solution efficiencies, and provide expert consulting on a full range of programs, vendor options, and flexible services and prices to fit prospects' needs. GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

An essential employee and team player that functions with the sales team, the New Business Development Consultant helps identify opportunities through networks that include corporate contacts, Architectural & Design firms and Real Estate organizations. Partners with the sales team to close the sell through effective relationship building and effective messaging of how we can improve the end-user's space through high design and products. Candidates that possess an entrepreneurial attitude, enjoy building relationships to create sales, and collaborating with a team, will be the most successful in this role.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Hunter mentality to identify new opportunities from assigned potential customers, A&D and Real Estate contacts, and other contacts

• Participate in professional networking activities that require morning, lunch and dinner meetings

• Participate in organizations that can influence the market like RECA, CoreNet, IFMA, etc. Actively pursue leadership roles or committees in these organizations

• Utilize strong communication and relationship building skills to meet with client's architects, interior designers and other consultants to influence specifications and product and service selection

• Represent the company's products and services to architects, interior designers, A&D firms, and other outside entities to influence specifications and product selection for our common client corporations

• Interview potential clients to determine furniture needs, budget, current inventory and time requirements for delivery

• Become an expert in public presentations, furniture product expertise and specifications to provide clients with information and advice on purchase of furniture and related products

• Cultivate relationships with key client contacts and buying influencers to understand and identify the client's strategic vision, objectives and needs while aligning our products and services where business opportunities exist

• Work closely with Account Executives to help create the best solutions for the clients. Clean and precise hand-off to the Account Executive so that they can prepare quotes and/or sales orders

• Create and maintain a business plan for continued growth of market share and account volume including establishing metrics for your territory; develop accurate projections and consistently prove ability to meet and/or exceeds quarterly and annual revenue quotas

• Establish account strategies to achieve sales targets; coordinate necessary resources in the execution of sales strategies; penetrate specific target accounts

KEY SELECTION AND SUCCESS FACTORS

WORK EXPERIENCE:

• Experience working in an outside sales role calling on a varied client base required

• 3+ years successful documented sales and/or new business development relationships

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

• Excellent written, oral communications skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

OTHER/PREFERRED:

• Strong interest in commercial interior design and commercial space

• Must be an active listener with a compelling sales personality

• Must have innate desire to chase and close new business

• Proven organizational and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to collaborate and negotiate

• Ability to work with a diverse group of people and build long term relationships with customers/partners (particularly at senior decision-making levels within an organization) as well as internal team members

• Office furniture dealer experience preferred
