The Medical Operations Senior Manager is accountable for Global Medical external medical events (EME) planning and execution within a therapeutic area which includes but is not limited to executional excellence in congress planning, ensuring standardization, training, quality and timely delivery of cross functional Congress plans and OL engagements. The Senior Manager will also establish and maintain governance and operating framework for EME capability within the TA.

Responsibilities

  • Drive annual Tier 1 congress TA strategy and plan discussions with medical and commercial leadership
  • Provide direct leadership for selected Tier 1 congresses within TA and provide oversight for all other congresses within the TA
  • Leads Global Medical external medical events congress TA team members to efficiently and effectively create and deliver consistent process, cross functional and cross regional transparency and project management within TA for tier 1 congresses
  • Manage, recruit, coach, mentor and develop team members
  • Partner with Commercial and Medical congress leads to ensure "One Voice of Amgen"
  • Lead Congress OL engagement planning and execution
  • Partner with vendors in ensuring appropriate support for Congress activities
  • Manage and provide oversight of activities to plan, build, implement, launch and maintain the TA EME team in accordance with the guiding principles and strategies
  • Ensure staff adherence to Amgen policies, SOPs, standards and all applicable regulations and guidelines
  • Identify, develop and implement innovation and process improvements


Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 2 years of industry experience

OR

Master's degree and 4 years of industry experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 6 years of industry experience

OR

Associate's degree and 10 years of industry experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of industry experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • 2 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources
  • 2 years directly leading large meeting logistics and management
  • Experience in vendor management and oversight
  • Advanced degree in life science, business or related discipline
  • 8+ years of work experience in pharmaceutical industry
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical industry guidelines and legal/health system environment acumen
  • Understands medical affairs, drug development and commercialization process
  • Operations experience within a biotech, pharmaceutical or CRO company
  • Skills to drive organizational change
  • Finance and budget management experience
  • Business process and systems management
  • Knowledge of SOPs, compliance and regulatory requirements
  • Strong understanding of principals of customer service as it applies to internal customers and external partners
