JOB SUMMARY: Learns methods and processes associated with machining, maintenance, receiving, paint, polish, etc.

  • Machine Repair Duties

    • Assist Maintenance Specialist with diagnostic and repairs

    • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machines

    • Assist operators with some machine maintenance responsibilities.

    • Support Total Predictive Maintenance activities.

  • Building Repair Duties

    • Assist Maintenance Specialist with building repair and construction duties.

    • Perform minor electrical repairs (changing light bulbs and ballast, replacing outlets, fuses, etc.)

    • Perform minor construction repairs (paint, plaster, masonry work, etc.)

    • Perform various clean up duties, both property related (i.e. roof/gutter cleaning) as well as disposal of items to dumpsters generated from production (i.e. break up and dispose of wood grates and skids).

  • Paint

    • Maintains productions schedules, and manages time to complete tasks while striving for zero defects.

    • Wash, hang, paint, dry parts and move to staging area.

    • Responsible for maintenance of parts washer, paint booth and drying ovens.

  • On-the-Job Training

    • Understanding of bills of materials and how they interact with customer orders, and material issuance.

    • Responsible for inventory record accuracy and the daily activity to maintain it.

    • All aspects of stock movement and the associated transactions in the AS/400.

    • Complete knowledge of products and parts.

    • Expediting customer orders into Assembly/Dock.

    • Obtain knowledge in understanding blueprints and work instructions.

    • Observes machine operation to verify accuracy of machine settings and to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, using precision measuring instruments such as micrometer and dial caliper. Adjust machine to control part process

    • Operates a variety of machines and works on various processes as assigned by department supervisor to facilitate training and development as a qualified machinist.

    • Metal removal of valve components within qualified time given.

    • Able to use material handling equipment with proven competence.

    • Set up and operate Hydrostatic Tester (MW1-12).

    • Should be self-sufficient in routine tasks and production within six months of hire date

    • Completed training including but not limited to RI University, Human Resource Orientation, and Safety & Inspection training.

    • Sign off on check sheet as outlined by Lead man.

  • Lean Manufacturing Initiatives

    • Will embrace Richards Industries Lean/Continuous Improvement ideas and vision

    •  Will follow 5s activities by  cleaning work areas daily to ensure optimal performance in all job functions

    • Keeps work area organized at all times.  This includes but not limited to storage drawers/cabinets, along with all personal items.

    • Will participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives after formal in house training. 

    • Employees are encouraged to submit improvement ideas by utilizing the Orange Card Suggestion Program.

    • Must participate in Lean training

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Knowledge/awareness of general safety procedures.

  • Understanding of hand tools.



                                                   


PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS



  • Capable of handling 50 lb. to 200 lb. valve bodies with the assistance of hand trucks, lifts, conveyors and hoists.

  • The ability to stand for long periods up to eight or more hours at a time.

  • Ability to work weekends and overtime when scheduled.

  • Must adhere to all safety policies, including safety glasses while in shop area.
