General Overview



Corporate Finance & Planning is responsible for financial accounting, reporting, planning, analysis, and modeling for Rotary International and the Rotary Foundation. Our responsibilities encompass financial management and monitoring, internal monthly reporting, audited financial statements, tax and investment accounting, financial analysis and preparation of financial impact statements, as well as budgeting and forecasting for executive management, committees, Directors, Trustees, and secretariat staff. These activities support planning, operational, and strategic decision-making activities while providing quality financial controls and services.



 


The Manager of Corporate Finance and Planning (International), will be the primary subject matter expert and primary staff lead on non-profit accounting, fiscal and management reporting, budgeting and planning for the international entities including the international offices and the Associate Foundations of the Rotary Foundation. The Manager will provide support for international entities in finance and fiscal matters, and support the local offices with governance of local Rotary Associate Foundations, including board meetings agenda and materials. The Manager will provide on-going training and support of Trustees assigned to Associate Foundations.



 


The Manager will lead the preparation of appropriate financial models to aid decision making and future strategic planning for the international entities, and for international philanthropic proposals. The Manager will work with and support international office staff and Rotarian volunteers to understand internal and external business drivers; provide information to drive fact based decision making for their areas of responsibility; align local financial, fiscal (tax), or governance and/or local/US GAAP adjustments into the consolidated organizations processes; and provide an international perspective for enterprise projects and their impact on international entities and international processes.



 



The Manager will lead a small team of financial analysts/accountants and provide accurate financial statements and reporting in accordance and compliance with: US and local accounting standards; relevant local regulations and charitable filing requirements; and Rotarys bylaws and internal policy policies and procedures.



 



The Manager will provide insightful and accurate analysis, initiate process efficiencies, generate thoughtful ideas, and maintain a high level of customer service.  The role is expected to support decision-making and facilitate interpretation of current, prior, and future performance for the executive management team.



 



The Manager will be responsible for developing reporting and processes, creating efficient work flows and reducing errors and reconciliation issues.


 



Education


Required: Bachelors degree (finance/accounting major); CPA or advanced degree; prior management experience


Highly Preferred: experience of international operations, US and/or international tax, non-profit experience, knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards

Duties



  • Management


    • Manage, coach, train, develop, and mentor a team of accountants and analysts of various skill levels

    • Proactively schedule and plan staff resources in order to meet deliverables





 



  • Entity Reporting and Accounting for international entities


    • Align local financial, fiscal (tax), or governance and/or local/US GAAP adjustments into the consolidated organizations processes

    • Support the resolution of regulatory, tax or information filings for international entities

    • Lead regular external compliance reviews at the local entities

    • Review internal reports and external filings to ensure accuracy and timeliness

    • Ensure the preparation and review of local audited financial statements and other reporting are aligned with the information included in the books and consolidated records of RI and The Rotary Foundation



  • Board, Committees and Governance

    • Maintain current knowledge of Rotary bylaws, and Board/Trustee decisions relevant to the financial obligations of the international entities

    • Provide on-going training and support of Rotary Trustees appointed to Associate Foundations and assist with them with the periodic reports Trustees of the Rotary Foundation. 

    • Guide the executive management and governance of the Associate Foundations





 



  • Budgeting and Forecasting, Financial Analysis, Modeling, and Project Support


    • Support activities related to preparation of the annual budget for international entities; Report on variances against budget; provides forecasts for business areas and recommends actions.

    • Assist or develop appropriate dashboard metrics, key analytics/performance measurements and PowerPoint presentations for various audiences

    • Advise on financial implications of decisions and compliance with organizational policies and procedures

    • Be the primary subject matter expert on non-profit accounting, fiscal and management reporting, budgeting and planning for the international entities

    • Develop and maintain analytical models to support planning efforts for all Rotary departments and volunteer leadership as needed





 



  • Oversight and Coordination of Activities to Support Associated Philanthropic Organizations


    • Lead a cross-functional, cross-cultural team to coordinate the activities associated with supporting and developing organizations

    • Create, deliver, and update training materials for Trustee liaisons to the Associate Foundations

    • Manage the appointment process at the various Associate Foundations to ensure timely appointment of the various management roles

    • Work collaboratively to resolve local operating issues of the Associate Foundations to ensure alignment with the Rotary Foundation

    • Develop effective financial reporting to the various local Finance/Audit Committees or Boards








  • Financial Processes


    • Document, maintain, and train relevant staff on policies and procedures, financial reporting, accounting, and budgeting at the International Offices and the Associate Foundations

    • Recommend, evaluate, and develop enhancements or modifications to procedures and processes to increase department efficiency related to financial planning, reporting, controls, and business support

    • Clearly document the differences in accounting standards locally vs. USGAAP. Updates the documents for unique transactions and for changes in accounting policies local as USGAAP.






Prior Experience


 


1) Minimum 10 years of accounting, financial planning and analysis experience required; minimum of five years of managerial/supervisory experience preferred


 


2) Preferred experience in Foundation accounting and reporting, proficient in fund accounting, and experience with non-US charitable accounting standards


 


3) Preferred experience of compliance, corporate governance, preparing meeting agendas, minutes etc.


 


4) Prior project management experience required


 


5) Preferred experience of Financial management system or ERP implementation


 


6) Advanced Excel, advanced MS PowerPoint


 


7) Preferred financial systems: PeopleSoft, SAP BPC, Oracle Cloud


 


8) Foreign language proficiency preferred including Spanish, Portuguese, French, Japanese, Korean, or German
