Manager, Admissions- 2 positions (Central & North Campuses)

Essential Job Functions:
  • Supervise, coordinate, and direct team members working with all first semester and new transfer students in admissions, advising, and enrollment activities.
  • Provide leadership to assure that admission services adhere to the highest standards of quality. Collaborate with counterparts to ensure consistent and uniform application of all functions, processes, and services within admissions across the college.
  • Interview, select, train, supervise, and evaluate a diverse team through the performance management system. Make appropriate staffing recommendations in accordance with college policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and direct the activities of the office, manage the admissions budget, approve payroll, and maintain office schedules.
  • Enforce residency, admissions and student record keeping rules as set by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.


Additional Job Functions:
  • Facilitate timely, professional communication and problem resolution strategies with students.
  • Consult and collaborate with the dean to plan, implement, and evaluate the services of the department through data analysis. Submit monthly and annual written reports including professional improvement and growth activities.
  • Represent SJC with outside educational institutions, internal departments, and professional organizations. Serve as department liaison and on campus/college committees as requested.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Understand and communicate the institution's interpretation of FERPA rules of the release of student information to faculty, parents, students, etc.
  • Knowledgeable about laws surrounding the maintenance of student records set by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. This includes supervising their imaging and destruction.
  • Knowledgeable about State reporting residency, registration, remediation, and course records in preparation for reporting to the State Board.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to work well with other staff and faculty members in the development and administration of programs within Admissions and Orientation as well as throughout the college.
  • Excellent oral & written communication, interpersonal, organizational and presentation skills as well as possess personal computer literacy.
  • Ability to manage numerous tasks simultaneously as well as develop new projects and programs with little supervision.
  • Ability to safeguard sensitive and/or confidential information from intentional or unintentional disclosure.
  • Ability to meet deadlines for assigned reports and projects.
  • Ability to interview, select, train, supervise, and evaluate a diverse population of personnel.
  • Ability to provide feedback, support, and encouragement to staff members.
  • Ability to perform all the essential functions of the position.
  • Ability to think critically when assisting with student issues.


Required Education:
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution

Preferred Education:
  • Master's degree from regionally accredited institution

Required Experience:
  • Three years of full-time experience in admissions, advising or orientation in higher education


Salary Grade: 25
