Job Summary
Hiring Range: $30,020.04 - $38,124.34/Year D.O.Q.

Port Corpus Christi Authority (PCCA) is currently seeking a dynamic professional to join our team! This position under the direction of a Maintenance Crew Leader and Group Supervisor(s); assists Senior Maintenance Workers in repairing and maintaining machinery, equipment, physical structures, and electrical systems for vehicles.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:
  • Maintains equipment, performs minor and routine checks and repairs under the guidance and instructions of senior maintenance personnel and crew leader
  • Paints, sands and removes rust on machines and equipment to prevent corrosion
  • Cleans and lubricates machine parts such as shafts, pulleys, gears and bearings
  • Replaces or repairs machinery belts
  • Performs repairs and inspections to mowing equipment such as weed eaters, tractors of various sizes, mowing decks and sharpens or replaces blades
  • Cleans Port Equipment
  • Cleans assigned work areas and monitors inventory of lubricants, solvents, batteries and other materials
  • Reads, interprets and follows vehicle and equipment manufacturer maintenance recommendations
  • Drives vehicle as necessary to complete assigned duties
  • Carries out daily assignments and provides feedback of problems or suggestions, adheres to port environmental and safety policies, maintains good employee relations and works towards a safe work environment
  • Performs other duties as assigned to include dock cleaning, grounds maintenance and assisting crafts trades personnel as necessary
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and apply all PCCA policies, promotes and adheres to the SEAPORT values, state/federal laws
  • CPR certified or ability to become CPR certified within the first year of employment
  • Tier 2 status designation
  • Complete Assigned Paperwork (Inspections, work Orders, Incident Reports)

CANDIDATE PROFILE
The preferred candidate for this position should be an organized, thorough, and disciplined individual with a focus on maintaining optimal integrity in support of the PCCA. They must possess the following:

EDUCATION & CREDENTIALS
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Valid drivers license
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) during course of employment

EXPERIENCE & JOB KNOWLEDGE
  • Minimum two years experience in the type of duties outlined above or acceptable equivalent experience

TECHNICAL SKILLS
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English
  • Basic math, reading, and writing skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate problems and solutions to customers, clients, and other employees
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Ability to conduct assigned work alone or as a team member
  • Understanding of MS Office, including Word and Excel, Outlook, and other related applications
  • Maintain good employee relations and encourages and fosters a helpful environment where teamwork prevails. Assists senior management and office staff where appropriate

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Ability to perform essential job functions, including but not limited to frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking or hearing, typing and occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Exposure to adverse weather conditions, fumes and/or airborne particles, high precarious places and risk of electrical shock. Moderate noise levels and moving mechanical parts are present. Some work may be conducted on boats or barges
  • Ability to work in a general office environment, with some exposure to the elements when visiting worksites
  • Ability to operate light-weight highway vehicles and standard office equipment and to work the requisite hours to fulfill position objectives, including evenings and/or weekends, as needed
