Amyris is seeking an experienced Maintenance Systems Manager. The facilities consist of a total of 135,000 square feet divided between two buildings. One building with 22,500 square feet is the location of Amyris' Pilot Plant, Shipping/Receiving and warehouse. At this location Amyris is responsible for all utilities and the following building systems. HVAC, process steam, clean steam, RODI, CDA, and vacuum. The remaining 112,500 square feet is divided between the first two floors of a two story complex. This location housed Research and Development and all administrative functions. Amyris is responsible for the CDA, RODI, Vacuum and HVAC systems supporting server room areas. All other HVAC systems are supported by building owner. This position is located in Emeryville, CA.

Responsibilities:
    • Ensure maintenance programs are aligned with Amyris standards, comply with applicable internal and external regulatory standards, and that the site's assets and systems perform reliably and as required
    • Establish and maintain maintenance strategies, practices, and processes to ensure maximum performance of our assets and to meet the needs of our business at optimized life-cycle costs.
    • Establish, sustain, and leverage effective partnerships with network counterparts to share best practices and influence the design and implementation of our network maintenance management policies, standards, and processes.
    • Identify, recruit, and develop reporting managerial staff. Initiate methods to facilitate effective decision-making, collaboration, and innovation. Provide strategic direction and management necessary for subordinate staff to achieve their stated objectives.
    • Participate in strategy discussions and drive decisions and actions to ensure that our maintenance programs complement and enable our site, network, and business strategies.
    • Initiate and coordinate quality improvement, efficiency improvement, budget analysis, and cost reduction programs relative to the management of our assets.
    • Manage and coordinate the Maintenance Project Team, Maintenance Planning, and Maintenance Administration to ensure that all support services are maintained, new efficiencies are realized, and overall execution effectiveness is increased at the Emeryville facility.
    • ProvideFacility Services support and engagement on engineering/technology projects, brokering and coordinating Facility Services representation on project teams, ensuring close collaboration and communication between project teams and Facility Services, assuring timely flow of documentation and master data, and facilitating operational readiness.
    • Interact with client groups, service providers, existing maintenance management, functions to leverage and optimize maintenance support resources, programs, and practices.
    • Provide leadership and coordination of maintenance operations, systems, procedures and documentation development.
    • Subsequent responsibility includes on-going management and support of aspects of the working manufacturing facility.


Requirements:
    • BS/BA/MS/MBA in engineering, facilities management, Science or business management or 10 plus years of experience
    • Relevant experience in a biotech, Labs, design engineering and construction environment preferred.
    • 5-10 years of experience facility management, maintenance administration, project management, and facility planning
    • Multi-craft and multi-shift management.
    • Demonstrated understanding of regulations that apply to facility management environment.
    • Applicable knowledge of contract administration and operations
    • Effective oral and communication skills demonstrating interaction with State, County, and City official.
    • Working knowledge of biotech maintenance as they relate to facility operations and documentation.
