Reporting to the Director, Talent Management and Development, the Senior Manager will serve as an organizational development (OD) and learning professional to help internal clients align their structure, strategy, processes, and culture as well as assess the organizational capabilities needed to ensure Amgen achieves its business goals.

In that capacity, the Senior Manager will:
  • Partner with internal clients to optimize the effectiveness of business initiatives, organization design, change management, and individual and team performance
  • Work with HR Business Partners to conduct needs analyses that assess areas of sub-optimal performance and diagnose specific solutions to improve organizational, team, and/or leader effectiveness
  • Based on consultation and analysis, determine if an identified need is best addressed by a learning- or OD-focused solution-or a combination thereof
  • Partner with clients to identify strategic learning needs; determine appropriate solutions; and then oversee solution development with Amgen's internal Global Learning Solutions team
  • Be knowledgeable about the full range of learning programs and performance support offerings the Talent team has orchestrated; then work with clients and Learning & Performance partners to leverage those resources to solve learning issues; build organizational capability; and enhance individual and team performance
  • Design and facilitate highly targeted team and leader interventions that enhance team effectiveness, build leadership capability, support change management, and/or improve business and decision-making processes - interventions are generally focused on specific leaders and teams at Executive Director level and above
  • Coach individual executive team leaders
  • Identify when assessments on individual or team styles, team or leader effectiveness, or team culture are advisable; administer the assessments; analyze results; and facilitate any feedback or coaching sessions
  • Act as central point of contact and knowledge with HR Business Partners and other stakeholders on Talent processes and resources, e.g. assessment and diagnostic tools, employee listening options, and executive coaching
  • Ensure consistent models and methods are embedded across the client organization and align with Talent best practices
  • Coach HR Business Partners and conduct train-the-trainer sessions to ensure Talent best practices are scalable and have global reach
  • Evaluate the effectiveness and impact of learning and organizational development processes, Talent programs, and OD interventions


Expected Domestic travel: 10%

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Human Resources experience

OR

Master's degree and 4 years of Human Resources experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 6 years of Human Resources experience

OR

Associate's degree and 10 years of Human Resources experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Human Resources experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a Center of Excellence (i.e., Talent Management, Organizational Development, Learning & Development)
  • Experience in performance consulting and needs analysis
  • Knowledge of organizational behavior, group dynamics, strategic planning, change management, and organization design
  • Ability to translate theory into business terms and concepts into concrete, achievable actions
  • Collaborative work style with ability to solicit input, influence without authority, and support decision making
  • Self-directed and willing to take informed risks
  • Experience using change management methodologies/models to implement organization change initiatives
  • Experience working with leaders, including identifying needs, developing action plans, identifying deliverables, and presenting results/recommendations
  • Strong interpersonal skills as they relate to OD/OE support and change management in a matrixed, results-driven work environment
  • Strong project planning and management skills, and demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously
  • Knowledge of adult learning methodologies, instructional design, and curriculum development
  • Experience using ADDIES, Agile, or other design and development methodologies in the creation of learning solutions
  • Knowledge of integrated talent systems/platforms
