Salary: $40,000 - $45,000 (unlicensed); $5,000-$10,000 annual stipend if already licensed as a Landscape Architect
Trees Atlanta is a nationally recognized non-profit citizens' group that protects and improves Atlantas urban forest by planting, conserving, and educating. Founded in 1985, Trees Atlanta works tirelessly to address Atlantas tree loss, protect its forests, and create new greenspace. Empowered by its wonderful community of volunteers, Trees Atlanta serves the metro Atlanta area, and has grown to become one of Atlantas most widely known and supported non-profit organizations.
Job Description
Trees Atlanta is looking for a Landscape Design Manager who will develop and implement ecologically sound urban design solutions for planting projects across all Trees Atlanta programs, including the Atlanta BeltLine Arboretum, downtown plantings, storm water management solutions, Metro Atlanta residential community projects, and more. The Landscape Design Manager will also collaborate with Trees Atlanta program staff members to implement and construct projects per plan.
The Landscape Design Manager will:
- Utilize Adobe Creative Suite and AutoCAD applications to create landscape designs (including plant and hardscapes) for programs, with priority to the BeltLine Arboretum
- Review and comment on planting designs from developers, Atlanta BeltLine and other organizations as requested.
- Create project proposals and budget estimates
- Coordinate with responsible agencies to obtain all necessary permits and authorization for landscape construction
- Identify and establish partnerships (e.g. Westside Future Fund) to collaborate on creative projects
- Work with the newly developed Forest Certification Program for individual properties
- Represent Trees Atlanta at meetings and presentations in the community and to project stakeholders
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of landscape design experience in creating ecological planting plans and solutions for public areas (parks, public gardens, commercial property, etc)
OR
Bachelors Degree in Landscape Architecture/Design or related field with 2-3 years of relevant design experience
- Understanding of ecology, urban forestry, and native plant communities within the Piedmont region
- Proficiency in creating construction documents, planting plans, concept plans and communications materials utilizing Adobe Creative Suite and AutoCAD applications with proven aesthetic design acumen
- Licensed driver for at least 3 years with a clean record
- Strong written, oral, and visual communication skills
- Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple projects
Benefits

Coverage of exam fees for professional landscape architecture certification (employee must meet qualifications to take exams).
