The Washington, DC office of Arnold & Porter is seeking a junior healthcare and life sciences associate for the Legislative and Public Policy Practice Group.

With approximately 20 professionals in Washington and California, the Legislative and Public Policy Practice Group advocates for clients before the United States Congress and the departments and agencies of the Executive branch. Professionals in this group include political appointees in recent Presidential administrations and a bipartisan group of Congressional staff alumni.

The Legislative and Public Policy Practice Group is Chambers-rated as one of the nation’s best practice groups for public policy issues. The Legislative and Public Policy Practice Group works in a high-energy, fast-paced environment that rewards initiative and teamwork in the pursuit of quality client service. The primary focus of the group is on Congressional and regulatory advocacy on topics including: healthcare and life sciences, insurance, energy, tax, financial services, telecommunications, trade, transportation, education, and congressional investigations. Clients include globally recognized brands, Fortune 500 companies, innovative start-ups, leading associations, healthcare stakeholders, educational institutions, foreign governments, and coalitions.

The open position will focus entirely on healthcare and life sciences policy issues. Qualified candidates for this position will have experience working in federal legislative and public policy roles, with strong healthcare and life sciences policy experience. Relevant experience might include staff work in Congress or for a healthcare/life sciences corporation or association in a government affairs role. Ideal candidates will have experience in healthcare policy, including Medicare/Medicaid coverage and reimbursement for health services and products across payment systems and sites of care, drug pricing policy, medical devices, children’s health issues, and health information technology, among others. All applicants should have a law degree with excellent academic credentials and references. This position is not open for candidates without a law degree.

Candidates must currently be licensed, or currently eligible to become licensed, to practice law in the jurisdiction in which they are applying to work.
