Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for an IP Docket Clerk in the Orange County office.

What will I do? As IP Docket Clerk will be responsible for all U.S./ foreign trademark docketing for Intellectual Property practice group.


  • Docketing includes receiving, review, calendaring, copying and distributing all IP related paper mail and email daily.
  • Responsible for downloading incoming faxes, docketing and distributing in a timely fashion;
  • Responsible for monitoring and maintaining docket calendar for all Intellectual Properly prosecution attorneys.
  • Responsible for following up with attorney about daily deadlines.
  • Responsible for preparing weekly docket reports for clients and attorneys.
  • Responsible for preparing client reporting letters; conducting trademark status checks;
  • Assisting on quality control tasks and trademark filings;
  • Position has client billable tasks such as drafting reminder letters and electronic filing.
  • Maintaining the IP docketing database for all foreign and domestic trademark

Job Requirements:
  • At least two years of IP docketing experience is preferred.

  • BA degree or equivalent work experience with excellent academic credentials.

  • Knowledge of patent, trademark and TTAB prosecution rules, deadlines and procedures (U.S. and Foreign) is preferred.

  • Experienced with complex docketing database programs is preferred. InProtech a plus.

  • Excellent analytical skills, with a strong ability to review legal documents and organize numerous legal documents in complex legal matters.

  • Well organized and detailed oriented.

  • Able to manage numerous projects simultaneously under deadline pressure.

  • Flexibility and willingness to work on a broad variety of legal matters.
