JOB POSTING - INTERN MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Introduction:

Konecranes is the industry shaping global leader in manufacturing and servicing overhead cranes and other lifting equipment. We serve a broad range of customers, including manufacturing and process industries, shipyards, ports and terminals. With over 10,000 employees and 500 locations worldwide, we are the largest crane company in the world.

Konecranes Nuclear Equipment and Services (KNES) is the engineering arm for all work performed in the nuclear arena throughout the world. We also provide the detailed engineering for specialty and government projects in the Americas. KNES is located in New Berlin, Wisconsin, with approximately 45 design engineers in the Engineering group, and another 60 technical employees providing support.

Duties:

The individual will be working under the leadership of a senior engineer in the mechanical group tasked to design crane equipment, modifications, and perform necessary calculations to help our customers. Individual may also evaluate material handling devices to ensure they structurally meet code and subsequently develop professional calculations using MathCAD for customer review. Responsibilities may include: Drafting and design drawings, structural & mechanical calculations, project specification interpretation, up-rate evaluations, checking drawings, BOM updates, and other modification scopes.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be working toward a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Must have problem solving skills, print reading ability, be self motivated, and creative. Must be computer literate in Solidworks, Excel and Word.

Most of our interns work some hours during the week (we are extremely flexible), with the goal of a minimum 4 hour length segment. This job is based on the intern working the summer month, 40+ hours a week. We are also very flexible to work overtime and during school breaks.

We pay based on an hourly rate, which is negotiated based on experience.
