Installation Technician
EATEL is looking to add an Installation Technician to their team in Gonzales, LA. This is a valuable opportunity for candidates with technical abilities and a customer service oriented attitude to grow their career with a great company. The essential function is installing Eatels fiber network inside customer premises. (Television, internet, phone service).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Receives tasks assignments from Manager , Supervisor, Coordinator or the dispatch center
- Removes telecommunications and related equipment, according to service/job order specifications, standards, and procedures
- Fluidly operate electronic devices such as PCs, laptops, tablets, and smartphones
- Maintains and reports accurate records of hours and materials used; coordinates with Accounting, Customer Service and other departments on service installations and changes to update records. Processes detailed paper work and/or electronic records.
- Reports and monitors service/job order changes
- Terminates various low voltage wiring including RG-6, RG-59, RG-11, Cat-3, Cat-5, Cat-6,and speaker wire
- Use wire trouble shooting tools such as tracer/toner and continuity testers, DSAM meters, Sidekick 7B meters, and volt meters
- Read product material for product knowledge advancement
- Understanding of frequency response

- Performs any other duties as assigned or as needed.

- Knowledge of all services offered by Eatel, regulatory industry standards and procedures, and new technology
- Proper telephone manner
- Understands basic electronics, specification sheets and circuit diagrams
- Expands upon job skills through seminars, workshops, and on-the-job training
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Outside environmental conditions; varying hot/cold temperatures rain and direct sunlight.
- Subject to hazards including a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, working on ladders, exposure to chemicals, and AC/DC power.
- Subject to conditions that may affect the respiratory system or skin such as fumes, odors, dusts and mists.
- Uses various hand tools; operates mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Works in attics, basements, crawl spaces, tunnels, trenches, and manholes to place telephone cables and equipment.
- Works in various neighborhoods and locations; makes numerous stops.
QUALIFICATIONS & PREREQUISITES
Required:
- Must possess a valid drivers license; must be a skilled driver with the ability to drive a vehicle with a manual shift
- High School or GED equivalency.
