Overview

World Wildlife Fund (WWF), one of the world's leading conservation organization, seeks a graduate-level International Climate Business Intern to join the International Corporate Climate Partnerships (ICCP) team this summer.

Addressing the challenge of climate change and creating a low-carbon, climate-resilient future for people and wildlife is a global priority for WWF. Rapidly accelerating the deployment of clean, renewable energy is a crucial aspect of our ambitious climate and energy strategy.

Under the supervision of the Director, International Corporate Climate Partnerships, the intern will support WWF's work to transform energy markets through corporate engagement.

The ICCP program focuses on creating and scaling high-impact corporate engagement initiatives to accelerate a low-carbon transition. The program works closely with companies, WWF offices in priority markets, and other stakeholders to promote climate action beyond the United States. The program's current priorities are to help scale demand for, and access to, renewable energy by corporations in Mexico, India, China, Vietnam, South Korea and beyond.



Responsibilities

Internship Description:

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Research & Communications: Conducts research, synthesizes and analyzes complex information to develop knowledge products, and prepares internal and external communications materials as needed in support of the ICCP program.
  2. Corporate Climate Engagement: Supports the day-to-day engagement by WWF US with multinational corporations on international climate and energy issues. Works closely with the Private Sector Engagement, U.S. Climate Business, and International Climate Cooperation teams at WWF US to advance an integrated approach to corporate climate engagement in priority international markets.
  3. WWF Network Engagement: Supports the day-to-day engagement by WWF US with country offices and international program teams within the WWF Network on corporate climate action, particularly in priority international markets. Collaborates with the International Climate Cooperation team at WWF US to ensure that the approach to corporate climate engagement is consistent with the broader international climate cooperation goals and strategies.
  4. Performs other duties as assigned.




Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current enrollment in a graduate degree program accepting course credit for the internship is required. Preference will be given to candidates in a related field, such as sustainability management, international relations, environmental economics, government policy, international development, environmental science, environmental policy, conservation policy, or natural resources management
  • This full-time position is based in WWF's Washington, DC office and is not remote. Candidates should be able to work at least 35 hours in the office each week for at least 10 weeks. Other working arrangements, such as start and end dates, are negotiable.
  • Subject expertise in one or more of the following areas is preferred: renewable electricity policy and markets, corporate climate and energy strategy, and sustainable supply chain management
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent research and writing skills
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with colleagues and partners from diverse backgrounds and stakeholder groups is essential
  • Ability to support initiatives with multiple and competing priorities
  • Team player and good interpersonal skills
  • Experience working or living in Mexico, India, China or Vietnam is an added asset but not required
  • Professional fluency in Spanish or Mandarin is an added asset but not required

Compensation:

Unpaid. For all unpaid internships, applicants must be enrolled in school and be able to obtain academic course credit from their university.
