Develop, implement and maintain human resource programs by providing administrative and strategic talent acquisition, employment processing, compensation, health and welfare benefit, record management, safety and health, employee relations and retention, and legal/EEO compliance services for ideastream.

Coordinates with the ideastream Executive Assistant to ensure effective functioning and support for the Board of Trustees, including coordinating communication tools, taking minutes, preparing board materials, responding to trustee queries and safeguarding the confidential nature of discussions


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide professional sourcing, recruiting, screening, interviewing and placement support services for managers to acquire the right talent for ideastream.

Administers the Internship Program- attends job fairs, gathers resumes, contacts college career centers, develops and maintains relationships with college department heads.

Manage and develop annual reporting for FCC/EEO diversity compliance purposes.

Provide ERISA and other compliance monitoring such as 5500 and SPD distribution and communication.

Support, interpret and administer organizational policy for managers and employees Provide effective onboarding processes for new staff members.

Administers the FMLA and leave of absence programs, coordinates with payroll for pay related concerns.

Manage benefit plans and wellness programs in collaboration with ideastreams Benefits Consultants for selection and maintenance of our benefits plans and wellness programs.

Provide policy interpretation, support and recommend changes for consistency and improved effectiveness.

Create meeting timelines, prepare and distribute meeting notifications and ascertain FCC and CPB disclosure requirements are met.

Attend committee and board meetings as assigned.

Maintain, as needed, both mailing and public relations lists of the board of trustees and chairs council members

Distribute, track and follow up on the annual conflict of interest and FCC disclosure forms for board and staff.

Schedule appointments as needed by trustees

Assists HR Director and Executive Assistant with various research projects and/or special projects.

Performs other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Demonstrated working knowledge of FLSA, EEO, NLRB, ERISA, COBRA and other regulations and legislation required.

Demonstrated knowledge of best practices for hiring and recruiting.

Able to maintain strict confidentiality.

Possesses genuine emotional intelligence

Identifies and resolves problems independently in a timely manner.

Remains open to others ideas and exhibits willingness to try new things. Manages competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events. Meets deadlines.

Able to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, keeps cool under stress.

Comfortable providing group presentations and conducting meetings and/or training sessions. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain rapport at all organizational levels.

Must be able to follow instructions, respond to management direction and solicit feedback.

Advanced Microsoft Office skills and knowledge of HRIS systems/reporting essential.

Education: Bachelors degree required, Human Resources management major is preferred. PHR, SPHR, SHRM or Paralegal certifications a plus.

Experience: Five years+ HR generalist experience required. Non-profit, board governance or media experience preferred. Experience with Paycor payroll and HRIS a plus.

Essential Physical Demands and Working Environment:

Ability to see, communicate, hear and utilize electronic devices. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to communicate effectively with others, sit, stand, walk and use hands to handle keyboard, telephone, paper, files, and other equipment and objects.
